Part 2 of our "Steps" series will take you further into the world of Chinese tea! While First Steps is meant to get you acquainted with the basics, Next Steps goes a bit beyond the basics, but not too far. You'll be introduced to some teas that take a little more skill to brew, but are by no means difficult to brew. The Next Steps sampler has an aged raw pu-erh, a different form of ripe pu-erh, purple black tea, a savory green tea, a hei cha and some more adventurous oolongs!

"Fantastic value and service! Highly recommended! For someone trying to learn about Chinese teas a prove I shood fully stop looking at resellers in the EU whose sample boxes were quite boring in comparison."

Next steps in building my palate

"I purchased this next steps sampler after being gifted and finishing the beginner sampler. First steps was nice to have a variety of teas in front of me and learn the ropes of loose leaf tea preparation (I’m using a small gaiwan or French press for larger portions) and to differentiate in taste and tactility the oxidized tea types. I’d never tried puer tea as well and discovered that I enjoyed the apricot notes of raw puer. I thought the next steps would be all new-to-me tea flavors that I would enjoy. Well honestly the best thing about next steps was learning what I didn’t like. I didn’t like the ripe puer and realized I hadn’t liked it much in the beginner set. I really didn’t like the honey orchid option but it’s a clear favorite here and it came down to the flavor being not for my pallet. I can’t say there was any issue with the tea or processing fault. Just wasn’t for me. I had thought this sampler would open my eyes to a wider selection of teas I enjoy and upon finding roads I’d rather not journey down felt a bit of initial disappointment. Some of this was affirmation of what flavors/processes I wasn’t into tea so far but hadn’t fully formed in my mind. However, I still like tea. A lot. And rather than jumping into another sampler I’ve ventured off into ordering teas I’ve both previously enjoyed or similar enough to what I know I enjoy. So I’d say I got thru this sampler having gained some confidence in being more independent with what my tastes are an where to journey next with tea. That’s a fantastic place to be. So I encourage others to try this sampler and whether the selections are for you or not that it’s a good opportunity to learn about the Chinese teas available through this site. I’m excited to keep enjoying tea and now have a couple favorites as I explore new ones."

Variety with some unexpected flavors

"The oolong was a little subtler than the first sampler kit, and green tea was more nutty, but the raw Puerh was really nice."
