White Tea from Da Qing Village Roasted in Bamboo

This bamboo white is made from April 2024 harvested tea that is processed into a shade-dried white tea and then packed into bamboo sections and then roasted. After roasting, sections of the bamboo were removed to allow the tea to breathe a bit. Each bamboo section contains 500 grams of tea.

The taste is creamy and fruity, with a nutty roasted taste. It's a white tea, but made from pure assamica varietal!

Da Qing Gu Shu (Da Qing Old Tree) is made from old tree tea leaves picked from the first flush of Spring. Da Qing village is a remote area located in Jinggu County (Simao) with unadulterated tea trees growing on the nearby hillsides. The leaves for this production are from one family whose trees are the oldest in the area. The age of the trees is between 100-300 years old.

"I purchased this tea as an afterthought, while picking up a few other teas, that I was more familiar with, and I was pleasantly surprised by the novelty of the flavor. I feel like the bamboo aging provides a sweet savory shade to the flavor profile that's almost reminiscent of saffron, definitely something interesting and worth having in the cupboard. I have not tried aging this tea for more than a few months, but so far this seems like a great tea in your collection."

Delicious and Delicate but also Robust and Hardy

"White tea is my absolute favorite so I'm always happy to explore them. My favorite is Bai Hao Yin Zhen. This may have unseated it. The soup is a beautiful deep apricot color and the fragrance is the same. Now the flavor! Oh! The flavor! While the fragrance is delicate, the flavor is a sock in the jaw like hot apple cider yet somehow so much smoother and cleaner! Truly amazing and worth saving up for an entire bamboo section. I think the bamboo is what gives it the cider like quality, that ineffable, indescribable edge that grabs you by the collar and says, "Howdy!" at the top of its lungs merely kissing distance from your face. Yeah, I like it."
