This is a unique tea to be sure. It's made from Wild Tree Purple varietal tea (ye sheng cha) growing in the Mang Fei mountain area of Yong De county. The tea grows wild and is only harvested in March. The tea was processed using the same technique used for Yue Guang Bai, the tea wilts briefly before being put into a long wind tunnel tube, where the action of air movement gradually halts the oxidation of the tea.

The taste is something unique too. There is a ton of complexity, with notes of fruit, flower, sugarcane, and a kind of bitterness that fades quickly. With even a few months of age the bitterness will transform into fruit sweetness with a long lasting after-taste. The tea soup is yellow, and is thick and soupy.

An incredibly rare tea, only 50 kilograms in total production!

We also offer a Purple varietal Black Tea cake pressed from the same exact area!

Very Enjoyable

"Really enjoyable. Slightly astringent but flavorful and easy drinking."

Fantastic tea

"I love wild purple leaf teas. That grape skin flavor is a real treat in a good tea. A nice sweetness, great grape flavor. Really looking forward to how these cakes will age. Excellent to drink even now though."

Robert A. (5/5)

Lovely Fruity and Soft

"The tea was great to try. I got a whole cake of it and tried my first bit today, it had a lovely fruity aroma in the leaves and a soft tea soup that is pleasant with a light amount of the smell of the tea leaves. I hope there will be more purple white teas like this in the future I’m gonna have to try and snag another cake in the future!"

Ethan (5/5)

Layered, daily drinker

"This was a treat. First white tea I’ve tried from Yunnan. Fragrant and floral, opening up over ~6 gaiwan steeps. Go ahead and buy more, it’s perfect for summer and easy to share with friends"

Amazing tea

"A great shou mei. The "purple taste" comes in the form of sweet, fruity, slightly sharp notes. With puer, this can sometimes be too much for my taste as it adds quite a bit of bitterness. It is not the case with this white tea. Overall a lovely tea with a bit more complexity than your average shou mei."

Mathias (5/5)

Lovely tea!

"I received a sample of this tea, and it truly is one of the loveliest whites I've had. Notes of peach and grape that I really cannot get enough of, and I may have to order a cake of it..."
