2016 Yunnan Sourcing "Autumn Bang Dong Village" Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake

Bang Dong Village (邦东寨) is located in the county Mengku, Lincang prefecture. Bang Dong is a small village situated at an altitude of 1600 meters.  Our production is made entirely from the tea picked by one family's small ancestral tea garden. The tea trees have 100-150 years of age and are growing naturally.

Tea from Bang Dong has many of the typical Mengku characterisitics... a high level of aroma, strong and pungent cha qi and kind of flowery aroma.  When young this tea is somewhat astringent, with slight bitterness and a thick nutty sweet after-taste. 

A total of 60 kilograms in total was produced.  We pressed these tea cakes with a stone-press and used low-temperature drying to preserve the integrity of the tea.

"Wonderful stuff - this one really hits the spot... initially very full-bodied, clean, light, floral. Some bitterness comes in at about steep 2-3 but it's stimulating and refreshing. No single flavour really dominates - it is well balanced with a satisfying punchy full taste and aroma. An intensely sweet toffee-caramel smell is left in the cup. The leaves are huge, and come off the cake with beautiful ease. A really great, powerful tea, and a bit of a bargain."

"After figuring out what parameters this tea works with, it has become one of my favourites. This tea has a particularly pleasant, thick feeling, with returning sweetness after some gentle astringency. It isn't an overpowering tea, and I cannot speak to it's ageing potential, but today, it is a wonderful tea with sweet hay sort of taste."

"Scott's done it again. This one is really nice even as a young one (and you can tell it can take some aging) but just look at the pictures listed to see the beautiful look of these leaves! As Scott himself says in his description the tea is young and slightly astringent with some bitterness but the mouth feel, texture and pleasant aftertaste show this to have great aging potential. I HIGHLY recommend this affordable somewhat limited edition tea. IT's my first Autumn harvest as I usually buy spring teas but I'll be back for more."
