2005 Xinghai "Lao Ban Zhang" Ripe Pu-erh Tea Cake
A classic Xinghai ripe tea produced from Bu Lang mountain tea. Xinghai has titled this tea "Lao Ban Zhang", but that's pretty unlikely. Even large tea factories were not above capitalizing on the Lao Ban Zhang craze back in the days! However, despite the name, this is a very nice Bu Lang tea that has been aged for close to 20 years (we are listing this tea for sale in 2024). Guangdong dry storage has transformed this into a fully matured ripe pu-erh that is fruity sweet and very smooth!
Xinghai tea factory is the 2nd producer of ripe tea in Menghai town (after Menghai tea factory), and has an excellent "wo dui" fermentation process.
It's a "Guangdong dry-stored" tea that has already lost its "wo dui" (fermented) taste. The tea brews up a deep, dark but clear burgundy-brown tea soup. The tea is super sweet and smooth with a dried cherry after-taste. Goes many many rounds and is nearly impossible to over-brew.
** Some wrappers may be bug-bitten with little holes in the paper. There may also be some dust between the wrapper and the cake. Rinse tea once or twice briefly before drinking! If you are squeamish please don't order this tea!
