Classic Menghai ripe pu-erh tea.  Wet piled by some of the most accomplished ripe tea professionals in Menghai (Yang Li).  Storage in Menghai (warm and humid) conditions since 2017 has given this tea a nice full-bodied richness with fruity, woody, and earthy character.  The wet pile taste is mostly all gone, and we will continue to store the bulk of this tea in Menghai, bringing up one case (20kg) at a time to Kunming to preserve the Menghai storage character of this lovely tea.

2017 harvested and wet piled from Menghai County tea leaves (Xishuangbanna).

Woody & Delicious

"This was one of my first 2 teas from this company, & its become my favorite out of those 2, I'll be buying more of of this tea once I have money to spare again. The flavor & scent of this tea is pronounced enough that I find it very forgiving to brew with. Its woody & earthy like the description says & it also has a gentle sweetness. Even when it gets really diluted in the last few brews or when you accidentally use too little tea, the flavor is still easy to taste & smell. The leaves looks really pretty sitting in the bottom of the pint glass/beer mug I brew it in, this tea truly feels medicinal. To brew in a pint glass/beer mug, I bring water to a boil & then let it cool for a few minutes before pouring; I add 3 teaspoons of the leaves or less to my glass, & then I pour a little bit of water over the leaves & swirl them for 10 seconds, then I fill the glass the rest of the way with water. Some people prefer to dump the wash, but so far, I'm not convinced that is necessary. I stir the tea a couple times after I've brewed it too. If you pour boiling water straight onto this tea's leaves, your brew will come out bitter, it will still be drinkable, but most people prefer their tea with little to no bitterness."

A great everyday drinker

"Thick mouthfeel. Well aged taste of woods and leather. Balanced bitterness. Uplifting chi. Lasts for up to 10 steeps revealing different shades and tones of classic aged ripe. Takes me back to my earliest puerh experiences in Hong Kong more than 20 years ago. Nostalgia for a world and a tea culture that is disappearing. This is why I drink tea."

Very Pleasant!

"This is my second pu-erh, and it is much nicer than my first (not sold here). The first one I tried a while ago had a very strong unpleasant funkiness. This one doesn't, it is quite lovely. Flavor wise, this is the first time that a tasting note described has been dead on. It tastes like fresh cedar, with an almost root like earthiness. There is a vague stone fruit like fruitiness to it as well, almost in the way that coffee can be stone fruit like. Very smooth, with a calming effect. Very lovely!"

Mellow and sweet

"It came as an additional gift to the order, and I´m pleased to say that Yunnan Sourcing picked a really lovely ripe Pu-erh. The tea soup has a beautiful, purplish dark colour, its smell is rich and reminds me of fresh planting soil, maybe with a hint of musk in the background. The taste is all sweet and mellow, just pleasant with a calming Qi. A very good choice for entering the realm of Shu Pu-erh, but also for the experienced tea-friend a very nice to brew and drink tea for everyday."
