Menghai Buddha Aroma Tea (aka 佛香) has a high and long-lasting fragrance, with a unique chestnut aroma, the taste is rich and fresh, and the soup color light green and bright, the bottom of the leaf is bright green.

Buddha Aroma varietal is a hybrid of local Menghai large leaf Assamica and smaller-leaf varietal (from northeast Yunnan). It was first developed in 1987 and is only grown in a few select Menghai county tea gardens.

One of the most aromatic greens

"I used 5g of leaf to 100ml of water, brewed at 85 °C, starting with a quick rinse. The leaves smelled like smoky, roasted chestnuts and green beans. The tea soup was light and brothy with perlescent citrine colour. The taste was deep, vegetal stock with savoury, sweet aftertaste. It has equal parts vegetal notes of fresh cut grass and steamed greens, together with chestnut and peanut soup nuttiness. The leaves lasted for 5-6 brews, just don't forget to keep the gaiwan lid off from time to time. You wouldn't want to miss the amazing chestnut aroma emanating."

Delicious Yunnan Green Tea!

"Menghai Buddha Aroma has that classic Yunnan green tea flavor: sweet, buttery, nutty, a slight floral aspect, booming with strong but smooth character, tasteful astringency and thick, satisfying tea soup. Many steeps, nice cha qi. What else could you want? I find this tea comparable to Mengku Pine Needles and Teng Chong Hui Long Zhai and is one of the best Yunnan green teas YS has to offer."

"Not a delicate tea, but a robust one with a rich flavour that lasts through many infusions. The taste is nutty, thick, fresh and smooth. As the the tea is quite forgiving even if you do not brew it too carefully, it is the perfect morning tea. It does not become bitter easily. All in all it offers a great value for money. Highly recommended."
