"Bai Ye" (lit. White Leaf) Dan Cong is grown in Ling Tou village in the north of Raoping County (Guangdong Province). Bai Ye Dan Cong varietal plants are special in curved large appearance with light yellow-green crowns. The aroma has both Flower and Honey characteristics with a heavy pungent nectar quality. The taste is thick and pure with a sweet after-finish.

Our Bai Ye dan Cong was picked in late March. Instead of being processed like Dan Cong Oolong, this tea was processed into Black Tea by wilting in small cloth bags in the sun and then shade.

The resulting tea is incredibly complex and unique. Bai Ye Hong Cha has thick sweetness and a very pronounced baked sweet potato taste that lasts many many infusions. This tea is both excellent and peerless. You simply can't have a similar experience with any other tea. Highly recommended for Dan Cong and Black Tea aficionados alike!

One of my favorites.

"This has become one of my favorites. There is something subtle about it that makes it more than just generic tea, but at the same time not too much flavor. Nice nuances."

delicious fuss free dan cong

"as a preface, I suck at brewing dan congs but I like their taste so I figured I'd give this a try. 3. 5g/75ml 90°C, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50s this is exactly what it says it is, the smell is intensely floral and fruity. really complex floral taste that shifts to stonefruit then to peach candy on the first infusions. after brew 3 the early stonefruit notes shift to roasted sweet potato but you still have that nice peach candy aftertaste. peach candy and high floral notes go away around brew 5. it's THICK, juicy, sure it's lightly to moderately astringent like a dan cong but it's so much easier to brew and the aroma and taste are truly special. I highly recommend you give this a try, it's worth the price."

5+Star Performer: Auto Rebuy

"I looked through all the reviews to see if I could find my own. I cannot believe I have never rated this tea on the . com site; clearly I erred. I went back through all my orders to see what my own history with this one was. I did something I NEVER do. Apparently I bought one 25g package from the us store in early 23. My next order afterwards was 500g from. com. Site. Folks I have a long record of one&Dones. Either my tastes and impatience killed them or my tummy said “NO”. This tea is hard to describe- deep color, rich taste with medium body, a truly split personality of complex hong cha with aged oolong, sweet but not syrupy with fruits in background and an almost French Roast coffee bite at the end that leaves a clean finish. Hopefully I will never run out of this. Kudos to the growers and processors and YS expert that picked this,"

Quality Black Tea

"This is very tasty black tea! I am enjoying it very much. Sometimes I mix it with ripe Puer tea and enjoy. Very fresh tea, good smell."

An old favorite

"I order this from time to time, and every time I wonder: will I enjoy it this time as much as I did previously? And every time I find that I do. This has to be in the top 5 most delicious teas I've ever tasted, the best of both worlds: smooth and easy to brew like a black tea, and aromatic and filled with flavor like a dancong. The only question is - why isn't there more like it? Seeing how good it is, I'd imagine there would be a whole bunch of black dancongs to chose from, and there isn't. Pity."

Fruity, very enjoyable

"One of my favorite hong cha so far! Very fruity like peach in both taste and aroma. Strangely enough, this one makes me sleepy as opposed to other red teas."

Fantastic tea!

"I just finished my first pot of this and I am really impressed -very complex and flavorful, even after many steeping. It's not cheap, but it certainly is a value for the money. I will be buying this again in the future."
