An early white wrapper production with a "Ming Xiang Ya Yuan" nei fei pressed into the cake.

"Ming Xiang Ya Yuan" is the name of Hai Lang's tea shop and was the first brand that Hai Lang produced.  This was pressed from first flush of spring "Xi Bang" area tea from Lincang.

This is a pure Kunming storage tea and the brewed tea soup color and still green leaves reflects this dry storage condition.  The tea is potent with strong mouthfeel, long lasting hui gan and cooling effect inthe mouth and throat.  The aged taste is there but overall the tea has retained alot of it's regional character.

Style

"This tea and others from both HLH and YS early pressings have convinced me of the merit of Kunming storage. After a few years of experimenting with storage styles I'm realizing that Kunming storage is, at least currently, my favorite type. This tea is thick and camphorous. Orchid aroma in the opening and sweet in the last steeps. Plenty of tannic structure remains, which I assume comes from from the storage style, yet the brewing is friendly and forgiving. There's something quite special here - a harmony of material, time, and place."

Decent tea

"Well balanced in the sense that I can taste astringency, smokiness and depth of flavour all at once. Am guessing the age of the tea has helped take the edge off it, resulting in a very pleasant cup with some presence. The leaves were certainly brittle and there was at least 30gm of fannings which had broken off the cake. I used these to brew two rounds so far, and am looking forward to even better results once I get to the main body."

good..

"This tea is good, but greener than I had imagined it. Still aging and the leaves are quite dry // brittle. It does have a great feel as far as drinking it goes. The flavor tones are raw, earthy, astringent, but deep."

Nectar

"This is one of the most nectar like sheng teas that I’ve tasted. I bought a full cake and have let it sit for a month. It’s very sweet for a raw Pu erh and it has no bitterness or astringency that I can detect. The mouth feel is plump and wonderfully full in the mouth. Among the twenty or so raw cakes I have this is sure to be a favourite and I have no hesitation about giving it five stars. In fact, I’d give it six if I could.. it’s a loosely pressed cake that almost falls apart at the touch and the brews are deep orange. I love it already and will savour it regularly until it’s gone"

Yummy Qi Bomb

"Wonderful. The age is there, but still plenty of youth showing. Sweet and fruity, and just overall something that I could see anyone enjoying. Almost a roasted oolong feel. Oh, and some of the best Happy Qi I've encountered. Highly recommended. But leave some for me."
