We are proud to announce our second Yi Wu area ripe pu-erh tea cake produced under the Yunnan Sourcing Brand! We used spring 2018 plantation and wild arbor Yi Wu area tea leaves that were expertly wet piled in Menghai to press this tea cake.

This is a medium-lightly wet piled ripe tea, so it's one that will age very gradually and will take somewhat longer to lose it's wet pile taste. That being said it's an excellent candidate for longer term aging due to it still having alot of sheng greenness to it.

It's not a graded ripe pu-erh, but rather just all the the different grades mixed together with only the coarsest leaves removed. The result is a rich, thick and textured tea that is both totally unique and very complex in taste, aroma and cha qi.

The dog featured on the wrapper (a Doberman) is my lovely Lucy who has traveled to Yi Wu twice in her life! Naturally she is the "Queen" of this fine tea producing area!

Good; time needed

"Indeed this Yiwu ripe is thick and sweet but for me there wasn't a very strong/defined flavor (and the sweetness I notice more on the finish). Letting the tea rest for over a month definitely gave a more defined taste compared to when I tried it after two weeks. I'll leave this alone for a while to develop a clearer profile (but as the description says this tea will need more time to mature). I'm sure it will be great in time; something to look forward to."

One of The Best!

"I keep coming back to this ripe time and time again. It's a really balanced flavor with a good amount of energizing cha qi. It lends more on the sweeter end but with a super thick mouth feel and excellent depth of flavor. Everything I would ideally like in a Ripe for my profile. I would have never guessed its only a 2017 ripe. One of the best I have tried. I have had this at various times throughout the day and it always seems just right. I'm buying a cake as the sample I nursed is nearly gone."

Excellent Ripe and Excellent Value

"This ripe is an excellent example of Scott's YS blends. This ripe tends more towards the sweet end with background flavors of oak and dark rum. Dried raisins on the smell of the wet leaf. Great texture and mouth feel. The cha qi is moderate. Great value and I will be purchasing a cake to store with hopes I don't drink it all first!"

Creamy chocolate

"Sweet, caramel, chocolate, creamy, vanilla. Another hit from the YS ripes. Easy drink. Still had some wet pile taste I think when I first got it."

Highly recommended

"This is exactly what I look for in shou pu erh. Dark, thick..... but also sweet. Good energy! And with a reasonable price Thanks Scott for this cake!!"
