Tender shoots of tea buds are plucked during the first flush of spring (or late autumn after the monsoons have dried up) and then expertly processed by hand into these tightly rolled pure bud "pearls" of fresh tea.

Our Imperial Grade Bi Luo Chun was grown in the town of Mojiang in Simao. The tea varietal used is a hybrid of Assamica called Yunkang #100.

The taste of the tea is sweet, thick and vibrant. There is some slight astringency that counters the sweetness, lending it depth and complexity.

We recommend brewing with 90C water. One flash rinse (about 10 seconds), then brew for 15-20 seconds and enjoy! With each successive infusion add 15 seconds.

Spring Harvest is Mid-February to Early-March & the Autumn Harvest is Late-September (choose from harvest & year in the drop-down menu)

Calming cozy broth

"I always look forward to the fresh Bi Luo Chun. The 2026 batch did not disappoint either. I've added 5g of leaf to a 100ml gaiwan, and I've used 85 °C water. After a quick rinse, the leaf smelled like corn, boiled kohlrabi, pickled green tomatoes and roasted pumpkin seeds. The brew was light and brothy, clear citrine with a slight blue haze. It was like a light vegetal consommé. The cup smelled like a flowery valley. The tea soup tasted like sweet corn, sorrel, avocado puree, nutty and green with a cooling, floral, salivating aftertaste. I could use the leaves 6 times on average."

A great bet

"This tea Never disappoints. Aftertaste is long and persistent. Leaves are nice and you find almost no oxidation. Aroma of the spent leaves is fruity and it goes better the longer you leave them un the open gaiwan."
