This is a pressing of 2006 spring harvested raw pu-erh tea from Jinggu that was also aged as mao cha (loose leaf raw pu-erh) in Jinggu until the end of the 2020, when it was pressed into these lovely little 10 gram ultra mini cakes!

The aging in loose leaf form has respectfully fast-aged this raw pu-erh into something that is mellow and warm, but still has a bit of a umami/bitter/astringent bit to it, that is countered by a fruity sweetness.

Each mini cake is roughly 10 grams (+/- 1 gram).  These do not come wrapped in paper.

Just amazing

"Cellar , cave , old library type smell and taste, indescribable beyond that but extraordinary good . Will buy again once my 50 gram sample is inevitably drunk , highly recommended to anyone liking ripe puerh but wanting something different in a way . Balanced bitterness and astringency, if you could even call it that , not overly bitter unless highly overbrewed , even though it does have quite a bit of small leave pieces it does not have any tastes or aromas that would be considered “ off “ . I recommend a 20s wash to open up the leaves and then 15. 15. 20. 20. 20. 25. 30. And up by five seconds until brewed out , as to not overextract the leaves ( brewed in my 130 ml gaiwan ) and get a bitter tea liquor. I recommend using 95 ish degree water , a minute or so off boil ( 97 ish or around ) or just stopped before boil ( 98-95 ) or just use boiling , i wont stop you and its not like you’l be able to taste any difference except for a little mouthfeel difference. Anyhow , 10/10 highly recommended"

Delicious Tea

"Absolutely love this tea. It was delightful. The maltiness. It was my first time ordering Puer tea and now I am fan. Will definitely order again."

Best one-serving pressing

"The material in these pieces is of way higher quality than the typical mini-tuo. This is honest good-quality daily-drinker leaf that's considerably better than mass-market large-factory plantation tea pressings. This tea has been stored a bit harder than most things you'll find here. It has a faint whiff of damp basement in the rinse but not in the cup, so far as I can tell. There is some bitterness as it opens up, and some astringency as it gets steeped out, but overall it is smooth to drink with some camphor early on and then a sort of nondescript tea sweetness. It brews a dark soup, even black if you push it some. The 14 years of aging as loose tea might have robbed it of some depth but it is still lively enough in the mouth, and drinks like something older than it is."

Hidden Gem!

"Possibly the missing link between aged raw and ripe pu erh, that tea archeologists have been searching for. On top of being mellow, there is a pleasant forest air/turned soil smell to the wet leaves and aftertaste that I would expect from wet piled tea. As one would expect from sheng, the tea is refreshing and uplifting. After the 7th or 8th infusion I over brewed the tea as a test, it was dry with a litter pucker yet not bitter. I was still able to get light infusions, reminiscent of some aged white tea and hei cha afterward. (Brew info; 2 flash rinses at 185 F. 1st infusion 5 sec 185 F. 2nd 15-20 sec 185 F. 3rd 35 sec 195 F. 4th - 5th 30-35 sec 205 F. 6th - and beyond 1 min+ 212 F. 12th (still steeping) 212 F"
