Big Snow Mountain area of Mengku in Lincang is a high alttude area that's home to many tea gardens.  This lovely black tea was processed with care from first flush of spring assamica tea leaves picked from 30 to 40 year old plantation bushes growing naturally at an altitude of 1800 meters.

The tea brews up a deep red tea soup, with a lovely floral front-end, and smooth thick sweet after-taste.  Thick and viscous tea, complex and interesting, while lasting many infusions makes this a worthwhile newcomer to our offering here at Yunnan Sourcing!

Still the best cheap black

"Still the best cheap black tea on Yunnan Sourcing IMO"

Great balanced and satisfying black tea

"I got a sample of this in my last order. I'm happy I did. It has a nice complexity, yet rounded enough that you could drink it every day. Viscous sweetness and malty notes (rich cereal) with floral/fruit notes that complement it without being overly tart/citrusy, without being the main character or only flavors. Similar notes to imperial mojiang gold bud, a golden needle, or golden biluochun minus the chocolate or cocoa notes. If you like any of those, definitely check this one out."

AROMATIC

"It’s amazing how much this tea varies year to year . I buy 250 grams most years . This years is complex and aromatic . The down side is that I think that this has been achieved by only lightly oxidising the leaves - the wet leaf is very green - and as a result the tea liquor is quite rough and astringent having come from plantation leaf . I think I’ll put this year’s to one side and forget about it for a couple of years . Hopefully it will soften and mellow with age !"

Mellow Mengku

"A very pleasant low astringent black tea. Makes great ice tea which is mostly how we are consuming it at the moment. Water temp 96C/205F on the kettle, brewing for a long time, grandpa style, it still doesn't have a bitter taste."

Complex, fruity tea.

"Very nice fruity black tea, very infuseable. I get a lot of dried fruit flavours from it, specifically dried apricots."

"My daily drink, I also make a lot of lemon iced tea with this one"

Decent Tea with a Reasonable Price

"For me, this tea is nothing special. It produces a strong infusion with a slightly bitter and complex flavor. It's simply a good tea at a very reasonable price. I recommend giving it a try!"

An unforgettable sensory experience

"This tea is an experience unlike any other. The leaves themselves smell of a sweet vanilla and a jasmine combination which smells like a burst of perfume as soon as you open the bag. As the leaves brew that scent falls to the back as a new smell emerges, one that is more vegetal and plant-like. The smell of the leaves is just the beginning. As you start to brew you are hit immediately with the taste of red fruits, like apples, and cherries. Along with the bitterer notes of brown sugar and oatmeal. After a few infusions the intensity of the bitterness subsides, and what you are left with is a creamy, thick, and sweet fruity drink unlike any other. A desert in a cup. This is one of my favorite teas. Based on the smell of the leaves alone, but, the smell along with the taste elevates this tea to an experience any tea-enjoyer has to have. 4.5/5"

Solid tea for the price

"Solid tea for the price, nothing special. It's what I head for when I just want black tea. Note that it's very strong though and very easy to overbrew. Maybe due to the large amount of small pieces."
