Entirely spring 2018 harvested tea from pure assamica bushes growing in Meng Song village.  Meng Song village is northwest from the Nan Nuo mountains and is a very famous tea producing area in Menghai County of Xishuangbanna.

This is a fruity and sweet (like sugarcane juice) white tea that will improve wonderfully with age.  Thick and viscous, it will go many steeps!

Difficult to find anything better.

"Its is difficult to find good teas when your introduction to tea was in Asia, Hong Kong & Malaysia primarily. I am happy to know I can get good teas like the 2018 Cha Nong Hao "Meng Song Village" White tea delivered state side. Keeps me happy until my next run to Asia!"

Quite a Unique Flavor for a White Tea

"This white tea has a very unique flavor profile. Honestly at first I was disappointed but after multiple sessions on different days and tweaking the water temps and brewing times I discovered how much of a good tea this really is. Flavors of autumn, notes of currants and hay. Theres something special in there I cant quite put into words, perhaps a touch of candy much like taiwanese oolongs can have. For me it also has similar features to black assamica tea which took me by surprise. Gungfu style can be steeped 10+ times with lower temps and is very forgiving for longer steepings, even left overnight. It has a soft mouthfeel and the cha qi is for lack if a better word mesmerizing, swimmy. This tea will only get better with age."

Tasty white tea for a good price

"In my opinion the tea shines in its taste and aftertaste, I am not as enthusiastic about its mouthfeel or aroma. The main characteristic I keep coming back to while drinking the tea is an earthy sweetness of root vegetables. The protracted spicy and sweet aftertaste is another memorable aspect, as is the fairly heady and disorienting cha qi. The dry leaves smell of cocoa beans and apricot, once wet I get more of autumn leaf pile, plum, caramel, and celery root aromas. Already the rinse is very intriguing, being quite thick, biting, and tangy, with a smooth finish and alcohol like character. Later on, the taste profile has more of that earthy sweetness of carrots and celery, mild tart notes here and there and a rum flavour. In the aftertaste, I also found a sort of green beans flavour devoid of the crisp vegetal aspects. Liquor has a medium body and the mouthfeel is relatively astringent and powdery. I also get a strong warming sensation in the throat. The tea really does last quite long, I got 13 infusions in this particular session, which makes it an even better value than it seems at first."

Good body and sweet

"I am analyzing the taste remaining on my palate as I write, definitely a lingering sweetness, yet I find it hard to define the unique signature I'm picking up. A bit mineral, perhaps lightly fruit, but sweet first and foremost covering the whole tongue. Very good, fulfilling body and taste, somewhat unusual in a white tea. I was am a bit surprised at how much flavor this has considering that the dry aroma is quite low, but the aroma became a vanilla-like sweetness immediately in hot water. Also perhaps a bit darker of a liquid for a white, verging on a light orange. I brewed mine with water about a minute off boil, perhaps 5g in a 200ml gaiwan, steeping a bit longer at first to awake the leaves (around 40s) then a bit shorter (around 30s). I could note a hint of underlying astringency which I feel contributes to the fullness of body as it might in a well-balanced sheng, but more subtle than that here. Considering how low the astringency, I imagine a shorter steep would eliminate it, but I enjoy it just how it is. A very good tea offering excellent value!"

Value for $ tea

"For the price i paid for this tea, this is a superb value for $ tea. Sweet, full bodied tea, a little fruity notes... textured, maybe.. and it can last several steeps. highly recommended!!!!!!"
