Lovely Yixing Qing Shui Ni Clay "easy gaiwan" makes brewing tea gong fu style easy!   No need to position your fingers or the gaiwan lid just right to make it all happen!  Just add, add water, wait, and pour!  It's easier with and easy gaiwan!

The clay is a Qing Shui Ni clay, which is a common clay in Yixing. Qing Shui Ni could be literally translated as "Clear Water Mud" in English. It basically stands for those ore that is not "specially selected or blended," so the color and feeling of this clay is more primitive as well, which represents the classical character of Yixing clay.  "Qing Shui Ni" (清水泥).  It is a very common material for Yixing teapots, making it a foundational ore, which supports the economy of Yixing production even today.


Mining area: western Fudong township of Yixing city
Kiln temperature: approx. 1090 C.
Contraction: approx. 43%-52%.

 

Gaiwan Volume is 175ml (+/- 10ml)

Large Cup Volume is 130ml (+/- 10ml)

Small Cup Volume is 60ml (+/- 10ml)

Bottom Seal: 中国宜兴

Seal on handles and top of lid: 福

"I ordered one of these and it was absolutely stunning in its beauty and quality. The cost of this easy gaiwan with the 2 size cups is a steal considering it’s absolute perfection in visual appearance and functionality. The way it nests together makes it perfect for storing and transport. Also I don’t have the issue the other reviewer above (another Daniel) has. The handles only get hot if the water is left in the gaiwan too long, which honestly makes the tea too strong anyway. So if you use it as a short steep single cup server the handles don’t get all that hot, at least to me. My only recommendation is to use one of those elastic hair bands and make a compression strap looped over the handles to securely keep the nested set all together during storage and transport. This eliminates the worry of the cup accidentally slipping off. I also bought a nice Yunnan Sourcing small teapot storage bag and it fits and protects this nested set perfectly. I cannot say enough about this set and I use it almost every day. I love it so much I have bought another set for my weekend home. And another (2) sets just in case for backup should I break one of the pieces. Yes you read that right I have 4 of these sets. 2 in use and 2 backup for my worry of breaking a cup as I am kind of clumsy sometimes. I didn’t hesitate to get more of these because they are really not that expensive, and I love the style and way it all works so much I want to be sure I have a working set for the rest of my life. I don’t ever want to be without this particular tea set so I think it’s worth every penny, even it may be excessive to have 2 backups. But again at this price it’s SO worth it."

Good for the price

"You can't beat the price on this, but the handles do get a bit hot. That is my only gripe. A small towel over the handles fixes that, but it would be better if that did not happen. I have 2 other Yixing pots from Yunnan Sourcing that I absolutely LOVE. Probably worth splurging for a teapot, but on a budget this definitely works."
