Incredible ornate carved screw-apart pick made from stained Wenge Wood.  The pick is machine carved, but the Dragon Pole (龙珠) motif is exquisite.

The pick is made using the san-mai forging process, which gives both incredible strength and that classic damascene folded pattern. This process has been re-invented in modern times as the original process was lost to the ages.  Pattern-welded steel using the san-mai process is the closest there is to the original lost art, and is both strong and aesthetically beautiful.

This makes for an elegant addition to any gong fu setup and will be a faithful companion to your pu-erh collection for as long as you desire!

Almost Too Beautiful to Use!

"I'd been eyeing this exquisite pick for a long time, and finally took the plunge when I found myself with a little bit of spare money. I have some very hard cakes and bricks that my cheap pick can't handle, and I was sick of mishaps with the blade and my fingers! I'm very glad I have this now, but it really is almost too beautiful to use. It's drawn quite a few gasps of astonishment from friends who share my love for beautiful blade-folding work."

I like this tea knife.

"I like this tea knife. I feel it is the right size, comfortable, easy to disassemble tea cakes. It has nice carvings on the wood handle and cover with a nice pattern on the knife itself. it is good quality and was shipped pretty quickly overseas."

Great pick

"It's got everything I needed from it: it's flat, it's strong, it gets the job done. It's pretty to look at. When closed, it looks like one contiguous rod with no break in the middle. The -1 star is mostly because the "damascene pattern" is lasered onto the blade, not forged as a part of it. I don't really mind this, to be honest, but the description does strongly imply this is a result of forging... If you look at the blade edge-on you'll see what I mean. It's $20, though. Still a great deal for what you get."

My tea pick of choice

"I have other tea picks, but this is the one I always reach for. Not only is it beautiful, but the shape and size is perfect for sliding into a tea cake and prying it open with a very slight twist. The handle and blade cover fit my hands well, so it's very easy to manipulate. I like it so much that I bought another so I can keep one in my traveling kit."

Just what I needed

"Got it free through a promotion, and I couldn't be happier this is what I chose."

A wonderful piece.

"The design on the exterior is beautiful and intricate, though the wenge grain is not terribly pronounced. The piece feels good in the hand, and is very sturdy. The blade is not sharp; it is more like a letter opener. -1 star only because a couple of small exterior dings on arrival keep it from being perfect."

I wish I bought it sooner!

"I had my eye on this for a while as a newbie to pressed tea cakes. After a painful mishap with the first tea pick I ever bought, I decided to order this knife. It's design is absolutely gorgeous. The flat blade feels much more forgiving of clumsiness than a rounded pick, and makes it easy to pry off pieces with minimal damage to the leaves. It's definitely worth it."
