High mountain tea grown at 2000 meters on Ai Lao Shan in Zhenyuan area of Simao. Picked and processed only from the first flush of spring, this black tea is lightly oxidized and processed similarly to Taiwanese black tea or Wu Yi Rock tea. There is a still a greenish tinge left to the leaves! The brewed tea is rich and thick with hints of dried Longan fruit with a protracted mouth feeling!

The tea is grown at almost 2000 meters making it one of the highest black teas we offer. Mr. Guo was born and raised in central Taiwan and his father had a black tea factory there. Mr. Guo traveled to Thailand and eventually decided on Yunnan. He was always a big Pu-erh tea fan and decided to spend time learning about Ai Lao area pu-erh since it's one of the remotest and untouched places in all Yunnan. He met many local pu-erh growers and worked with one in particular (Mr. Feng) to introduce a Taiwanese style processing which marries black tea and oolong in a sweet and fruity style!

"I brew it with gaiwan, 5g/100ml, 90 degree water, rinse then 10s, 15, 25s,. . . Last like 8 steeps for me. Taste amazing, bright, fruity, buttery. But I want to highlight that it's shockingly good in cold brew, almost like lychee without the sugary feel. Very bright and refreshing."

Great everyday drinking tea

"I love this tea for whenever I simply want a nice cup of black tea. It has a sweet, warm chocolate scent with some earthiness appearing once wet. The tea stands up very well to western brewing, with it taking a long oversteep to show much bitterness: great for forgetting you made tea! In a gaiwan it is sweet and delicate. I've gone through nearly a kilo of this tea over the last 5 years and I see no reason to stop :)"

Spring 2024 Incredible, Spring 2025 Dissapointing

"I initially got a sample of the 2024 Spring batch, it was outstanding - possibly the best tea I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. I was ecstatic. A few weeks/months later when I wanted to order a larger batch, I had to purchase the 2025 Spring batch as the 2024 batch was sold out. It was not even comparable, very disappointing. Spring 2024 Batch = 6/5 - Exceptional Spring 2025 Batch = 4/5 - Good, but not even close to the 2024 batch. Maybe this was a fluke, perhaps I got a bad batch, looking at other reviews it seems people are still super happy with it, I might give it another try in the future."

"This tea has become my daily standard in part because I ordered half a kilo of it and in part because it's a very good standard black tea. It's smooth, full-bodied, and good for many steeps. I drink it both gongfu and with larger water volumes, using it for a cold steep overnight when I'm done with the leaves. Cold brewing this will bring out the sweet notes while retaining some of the malt flavor under the surface."

Hi, I bought the 2020 tea and I recently found out that it is best to wait a few months before drinking some teas. Any advice on this one? And also in gong fu brewing, should I use 90 or 95 degrees hot water?
