This is a 2016 spring wild harvested Tian Jian tea from Bei Wan 北湾 area in Anhua county. Wild grown tea (荒山茶) was picked and processed carefully using kill-green (frying), rolling, fermenting, drying, and then pressed into these little 200 gram bricks.

This tea has been aged since 2016 in Hunan, and has a nice aged taste and feel to it. The aging has transformed the subtle smokiness into velvety rich spices with a honey and fruit fullness and depth in the mouth. It steeps many times and each infusion has its own charm and unique character.

A great opportunity to taste or age Tian Jian in a brick form.

Cha Yu Lin is a small An Hua producer that works with tea growers and small village cooperatives to produce unique small batch Hei Cha. They've been producing An Hua teas since 2004!

Good tea for the price

"This Tian Jian was one of my daily drinkers. I drink Heicha every morning. Prepare it in a flask bottle. The tea lost its smokey flavor. But has a beautiful round, fermented Woody flavor. The dry tea smells very green and grassy to me. You find this back in the tea itself. I wil definitely try out more Tian Jian teas."

Great tea

"There is almost zero smokiness left and what is there has been transformed into a delicious savory taste. The first few pours are very buttery and pastry tasting. Later on in the session the minerality is becoming more apparent. Great tea for the autumn months. At this price point it's amazing what you get, great sourcing!"

Good if you drink hei cha

"It’s a very smokey taste with aged vegetable like flavor notes. This is definitely a good try if you’re a Hei cha drinker!"
