This is a potent blend of Bu Lang Mountain area plantation tea leaves picked in Spring 2013 and 2014. It's a powerful tea blend with a strong "in your face" character! There is some smokiness present, but also a strong thick honey taste and sweetness as well. The bitterness is not too strong in this tea, which is unique for a Bu Lang tea. This tea also has a strong cha qi and mouth-water effect and goes many steeps.

An affordable Bu Lang with the right stuff needed for longer term aging!

Wow! Unexpected!

"The 5 star rating is for the overall experience with Yunnan Sourcing. I've placed a few orders now and everything always comes quickly and impeccably packaged. I bought a sample size of this along with a few others. However - this tea! I've really only started my pu'erh explorations in the last year and have tried maybe a half dozen raw and a half dozen ripe pu'erhs. I've never had anything like this one. I started with a 30 second wash, then a 2-3 minute steep with 4. x grams in about 8oz. I did get a woody, slightly smoky aroma like some other reviewers, but that didn't translate to taste for me. The taste was so unexpectedly brothy it completely surprised me. Savory, almost meaty. I gave it to my partner to try and she felt the same. There was a very very slight sweetness, but that too had an almost animalic funk, like a really dank honey. Truthfully, I couldn't finish the first cup. Thank you so much for providing sample sizes! I don't regret buying and trying this, even though it's not for me."

wonderful tea

"this is a highly compressed cake and rather difficult to keep leaves even somewhat intact. However, the tea is delicious particularly given the price point. There is a lingering bitterness but it's not overwhelming, no astringency. Flavors are woodsy with a slightly smoky note - grass, hay, earth, and a faint honey sweetness. Mouthfeel is viscous through multiple brews. Very powerful qi. Excellent value for a lovely tea."

Quality Plantation Tea

"Quality plantation tea. It has a kind of grassy vibe, although it is not too green or sharp. It is more like cut grass that has been drying in the sun. There's a warmness to it. The tea has no unpleasant notes. I did not detect any smokiness, in spite of the description. Moreover, to my palette, there was little to no bitterness. The tea is really very sweet and pleasant. Very drinkable. With it being plantation, it is not the type of tea you would want to sit down with and analyse. It is somewhat thin and lacking in complexity—this is to be expected, of course. I could imagine it being good for drinking with a meal, for instance. Or if you wanted an inexpensive but quality tea to drink at work. The lingering taste on the palette is very nice, and I would describe the body sensation as pleasant and mildly stimulating."
