A companion to our Silver Label (white tea) and Green Label (raw pu-erh), Red Label is a pure wild-arbor assamica black tea (红茶) pressed into convenient 7-gram mini cakes. Harvested in Autumn 2025 from the high slopes of Zhong Cang village, Wu Liang Mountains (≈2300m) and shade-dried in the traditional white-tea manner, this is the same garden we use for our 2024/2025 Wu Liang Mountain raw pu-erh.

In hand, each coin shows a handsome mosaic of olive leaf, chestnut leaf, and gold/copper/silvery buds (clearly visible in the photos). In the cup, smooth amber liquor with brown-sugar sweetness, red-fruit brightness, and gentle spice; with dried longan, jujube, cocoa husk, honeyed malt aromatics. Expect a silky, round, and coating with a pleasant lingering sweetness, and a lubricating mouthfeel that lingers across 10–15 infusions without harshness.

Portable, forgiving, and quietly powerful, perfect for travel brews or measured sessions.

  • Single-garden series: one tea garden, three styles (Silver/Red/Green), so you can taste processing differences on the same material.

  • High-altitude wild arbor: naturally mixed small/large-leaf heritage stand, remote and clean environment.

  • Effortless format: tidy 7g coins; one mini cake = one session.

Tea Information

  • Type: Black tea from Camellia sinensis var. assamica

  • Origin: Zhong Cang village, Wu Liang Mountains, Jingdong, Simao (Pu’er) Prefecture

  • Harvest: October 2025 (Autumn)

  • Elevation: ~2300 meters

  • Material: Wild-arbor trees, ~200 years old (naturally mixed leaf sizes)

  • Aroma: Dried longan, jujube, cocoa husk, honeyed malt

  • Taste: smooth amber liquor with brown-sugar sweetness, red-fruit brightness, and gentle spice; no smoke or harshness

  • Texture & Energy: Silky, mouth-coating, cooling; steady, calming cha qi

  • Finish: Long, sweet, and clean with returning salivation

Brewing Suggestions

  • Gongfu: 1 mini cake (7g) per 100–140 ml; 95–100 °C. Quick rinse, then start at 8–10 seconds, adding time gradually for 10–15 steeps.

  • Grandpa/thermos: 1 coin per 300–400 ml at 90–95 °C; top up as you sip.

  • Tip: A brief, hot flash-rinse helps the coin open evenly.

Aging Notes

Store in 50–65% RH and 70–90 °F, in an odor-free area, with minimal airflow. With time, the amber sweetness deepens, florals turn honeyed, and the texture gains breadth.

In Summary

  • Net weight: 7 g (+/- 1 g) per mini cake

  • Total production: ~100 kg

  • Packaging: Individually wrapped mini cakes with red-stamped “Yunnan Sourcing” wrappers.

Explore the set: Silver Label (White)Red Label (Black)Green Label (Raw Pu-erh), a delicious, side-by-side study of processing on the same high-mountain material.

Now this is fantastic.

"Instead of measuring my loose leaf tea leaves and spilling some of them while pouring them into my selected tea pot then picking up each leaf with arthritic hands. All I have to do is entrap a cute little tea cake that someone has taken the time to press. You just wouldn’t think it would taste fresh by looking at that dry hockey puck. But when you add your hot water and see the transformation and then pour it into you cup then take your first sip, the excitement begins."

Solid everyday hong.

"Easy packaging for a half-conscious morning brew. Brews up strong and flavorful for 4-6 steeps. Mostly tastes of tobacco and leather, very little chocolate and tomato notes like some reds have. Great value as well! Ordering more!"

For the price , extraordinary good

"Aroma and taste from the description are on point , while this tea does take a bit to loosen up and release its true flavor , it is worth the wait as this is a beautiful tea . It has a distinctive aroma that is ,on its own a ,delight , and the taste is even better , would say the the 4’th brew is the best ( i did a 30 s wash with boiling water to open up the tea , then 20,30,30,30,35,40,50,60 and 60 onwards until it was brewed out , which took 11-12 steeps since i kind of lost count when i started doing 60secs brews , a coin is good for a 120-140 ml gaiwan/teapot, i used my 140 ml gaiwan. ) . It has no astringency unless heavily overbrewed , in which case it goes away fairly quickly and you get a pleasant hui gan and returning sweetness , the after taste matching the sweet ya bao white tea a bit , (when brewed cold or grandpa style ) without the same strength and unlike the sweet ya bao it can leave ur mouth a bit dry at the beginning. Overall i recommend this tea , it is a very good daily tea and will definitely be better in a year or more when the taste mellows and combines into a smoother one ."
