Jing Long is a small Yi Wu based producer that has been making tea since 1998.  This is an Spring harvest 2005 tea cake that was stone-pressed in the traditional manner.

Pressed in Yi Wu from Yi Wu area tea trees, and then stored in Jinghong until December 2016, this has aged well and gives a gold-orange tea soup when brewed.  Smooth, sweet with hints of honey and hay.  There is a slight dark chocolate bitterness to it that quicky transforms in the mouth to a viscous and lubricating experience!

If you love Yi Wu tea, but want something aged, mellow but still having complexity then this just might be the tea you've been looking for!

357 grams per cake

** Some wrappers may be bug-bitten with little holes in the paper. There may also be some dust between the wrapper and the cake. Rinse tea once or twice briefly before drinking! If you are squeamish please don't order this tea!

Overpowering taste of smoke

"I like smoked foods but not smokey tea. A hint of it is ok but the smokey flavor here is pretty strong and overpowers whatever else might be in it. I did not taste any sweetness and nobody else has mentioned a smokey flavor which makes me wonder if there was a mix-up because it's front and center making it impossible to miss. I won't rate this badly, just average, but it's definitely not for me and figured I'd leave a comment mentioning the smokiness so others like me won't order it on accident."

This one's a sleeper

"When I first got this bing it actually had tiny bugs crawling on it! That freaked me out but I took the wrapper off and just left it on a table for a week or so. The little critters had bugged off, so I put the cake in my pumidor completely nekkid. I picked at it a couple times but didn't really reach for it often because in taking off the wrapper I had completely forgotten its provenance and harvest date. But I decided to crack into it this year, and man is it good. First couple of infusions give a caramel/marshmallow aroma, and a sweet flowery brew. When the tea opens up it carries a nice clean minerality with a pulling sensation at the sides of the tongue. Empty cup smells of ripe melon and steamed pumpkin. I love a good Yi Wu sheng with some age on it, and this one ticks all the boxes."

Holy honey, Batman

"Whole leaves, very nicely pressed so as to be easy to remove unbroken. First steeps are pure delightful sweetness with no hint of bitter. Pushed to longer steeps, the aroma opens up to a slightly spicy hay smell and a deeper flavour. Definitely one to play with steep length depending on your mood."

This is a good one

"I purchased a few samples of this as the cakes were sold out at that time. I see they are back in stock, and I will definitely need to buy one...even though I have told myself I wouldn't buy any more tea until I'd drank down my current stash. I will have to make an exception for this tea's lovely, sweet, incense like aroma and flavor. It is a really good tea."

Interesting mouthfeel

"Fruity classic Yi Wu with slight earthiness. The tea consists of very large and thick leaves. Very interesting mouthfeel and nice sweet floral taste. No bitterness."

A pleasant experience!

"This is a lovely, smooth tea, with no astringency and no off flavours from the start. Compression is not too tight and most of the leaves make it undamaged into the pot or gaiwan. I thought I could detect hints of stone fruit in the first couple of rounds. After that, the typical Yi Wu sweetness and a slight honey and stronger hay presence become noticeable."

Smooth flavor & good cha qi

"Smooth and mildly sweet. The hint of hay flavor is more prominent to me with a subtle (almost) spicy/herbaceous quality."
