This is a new pressing of premium Spring 2018 harvested Fu Tea from Gao Jia Shan to celebrate the year of the pig!  The tea is titled "金猪进福" which translates roughly "The Golden Pig Arrives and Brings Prosperity".

Each brick is meticulously and luxuriously packaged and comes in it's own box (suitable for gifting or storage).

This is a thick and juicy Fu tea!  Very viscous, very sweet, fruity and malty!  A good amount of golden flowers.  Order atleast 250 grams to make sure you get an inner chunk with golden flowers (the outer sections along the edges don't have the golden flowers), or better yet get the whole brick!

Premium Fu brick!!!

The tea itself is made from spring 2018 harvested tea leaves from the Gao Jia Mountainous area of Anhua County in Hunan.  Gao Jia Shan is both a place and the name of the tea factory brand that produced this lovely tea.  Gao Jia Shan as a producer doesn't have as long of a history as Yi Yang and Bai Sha Xi tea factories but nonetheless produces very high quality Fu Brick tea processed in the traditional manner.  Gao Jia Shan is a premium medium-small producer of An Hua Hei Cha (including Tian Jian, Fu Cha Zhuan, Hei Cha Zhuan, and Qian Liang Teas.

The tea was fermented with a few days of wet piling, and then pressed into bricks.  After pressing the golden flowers flourish in the inner section of the brick where the conditions are just right to support them. After a few days the Golden Flowers have thrived and spread throughout the inner part of the bricks, and then the bricks are dried gradually using a temperature of 37C which preserves and gradually halts the spread of the flowers without damaging them or the tea leaves.

"Warm, fruity, almost nutty… with floral hints in there too. Sit and enjoy all of the passes through this one, it is ever changing and delicious. I love starting a weekend morning this way."

Involving and Evolving tea…

"Beautiful tea. Starts out as a well rounded “Shou Puerh-ish” chocolatey taste, light and well balanced in character, and evolves so very much, opening and clearing up, into an almost Sheng” taste and feel. Never have I tried anything quite like it… Beautiful…"

chocolate cookies, without the carbs

"Brewing: 6g/100ml, 100°C, flash rinse, 15s, +5s Warmed-up dry leaves smell of dark chocolate and cookies, with a hint of cinnamon. When wet, the warm spices intensify and liquorice makes an appearance. The liquor tastes of cocoa and stone fruit - blended together perfectly, in a very smooth and satisfying way - rendered even better by delicate spices and that wonderful Fu yeastiness."

Recently bought a brick

"I recently bought a brick of this when stock was getting low. Will this get better with age? Or should I just crack into it?"

patience

"pNo regrets for having bought a brick - I expected to be waiting a few years before considering it seriously. But I just thought I'd add some balance to the other reviews by saying that I feel this really is showing it's youth currently. All the flavours are good and as you'd expect, but not yet settled or fully developed. Patience. Or if you don't have patience, start with some of the excellent 2015 Fu on here. This one will almost certainly be 5* in time."

Refreshing & full

"This one has the big flavour of lemon! I tasted it the distinctly the whole way through. And also, it can really taste like a black tea! The mild astringent, slightly dry edge is very familiar from that category, and something in the light, somewhat floral flavours rang familiar of a black. It definitely has that familiar meadowy hei cha flavour, and does that nicely. It's hard to describe how these can exist together, but along with the dry edge, it is a very smooth, liquidy feeling experience, and a nice residue in the mouth. This is a very tasty and comforting tea. This tea would be great for summer, with the thirst quenching lemon, and smoothness."
