2011 Yunnan Sourcing "Feng Yun" Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake
Feng Yun is a blend of teas from three distinctly different areas of southern Yunnan. This blend is the the lighter of the three in taste. It sports a strong aroma, with a balanced astringency and bitterness. The mouth feeling is full and cooling. The tea can be infused 10 or more times. The brewed leaves differ in size and thickness attesting to their varied origin.
Stone pressed in the traditional manner and dried with a low temperature drying process. Each cake is individually wrapped in Dai minority hand-crafted paper and then meticulously packed into bamboo leaf tongs for collection and long-term storage.
The Dai ethnic group lives exclusively in Yunnan province, residing primarily in the Xishuangbanna Autonomous Prefecture. Dai villages tend to be built in low-lying areas beside mountains. Streams or rivers flow in front of them and the mountains behind are covered in thick forest. Dai houses are constructed on elevated wooden poles. The mountains surrounding the villages are all covered in tea trees, which are normally picked by unmarried young girls.
