This is a blend of 2016 Spring and Autumn teas from Lincang area. Naturally growing plantation bushes from three villages (Bang Dong, Xiao Hu Sai and Da Xue Shan) were used and the tea has been tested for 191 pesticides and passed with a perfect score.  Thick, bitter, sweet and astringent with a spicy mushroom broth taste.

Each cake is very small and weighs just 50 grams.  These cakes are perfect for aging, daily drinkers or gifting to others.  The wrapper we used bears no reference to Yunnan Sourcing whatsover so if you want to re-sell just as they are we don't mind at all!  These also have no nei fei at all so could be re-wrapped too!

"I am an absolute beginner to sheng puer, so these are just my thoughts on the tea. Dry leaf in warm gai wan brings out the sweet crisp tart apple honey note. The first 2 infusion was 1 min at 100C. There is sweet nice light astringent in the tea with thick mouthfeel. I notice a warm sensation in the chest. The 3rd and 4th at 100C 30 sec as I do not enjoy the astringency of the tea at this stage. At this point, I could feel warm in the head and at the back of the neck which broke out into nice cool sweat. Is this consider cha qi? Anyway, the rest of the (6-8) steeping is lighter with nice honey notes and a consistent return of sweetness at the back of the throat that is amazing. I am definitely gonna pick up a few more to age it and give away. Very please with this purchase."

"For such a low cost Red Monkey has excellent flavour and pretty decent huigan, especially by the end of your steep. Fairly light mouth feel. Fruity after notes. Great introductory tea, and great to use for your daily drinker."

It's deliciously sweet and doesn't mind being overbrewed, which is great for people new to sheng. It's complex enough to keep you interested. Great value for the price."

"Dry leaves smell like lemon and honey, and after rinse the honey smell intensifies. Overall really nice high quality sheng for a good price. Nice bitterness and strength, gets a lot of brews. I might pick up another cake or two on the next order."

My first young raw pu-er.

"My first young raw up-er, so this is really just a first impression. This was light and floral, quite enjoyable when brewed correctly. Too much brewing time quickly produces a lot of astringency. I don't mind the astringency so much, but my stomach does, so I had to be careful with my steeping times. I liked this a lot!"

To be aged

"Tight little cake. Pale orange liquor. Medium texture. Smells of dried apricots. However the strong minerality outweights the fruitiness. Gets bitter quickly if brewed for too long. And the taste is generally a bit weak. Would certainly gain value with aging. 6/10"

"Its actually quite enjoyable has nice little cha qi. Surprisingly a little thick in the mouth and I find myself smacking my lips a lot while drinking it. Its nice I'd recommend flash steepings to get the best out of it."
