Haiwan tea factory is an excellent choice for blended ripe pu-erh as the ex-manager of the Manager of the Menghai tea factory is the founder and general director of the Haiwan tea factory. As a result the "wo dui" fermentation process used in the production of Haiwan Ripe Pu-erhs is very close to that of the Menghai tea factory.

This production is made entirely from Nannuo mountain Spring 2006 harvested tea that was wet-piled and then pressed in 2007!

Aged for 13 years!  This tea is fruity, thick, and lively!  An excellent Haiwan production with a unique Nannuo mountain origin.

A good choice

"Cocoa and wood. Brewed in a yixing pot. The flavor profile reminds me of some of the Bu Lang teas that I frequently drink."

Surprising

"Quite the opposite taste than my last review, the only difference is that I left this tea in a 75% relative humidity box (with saturated salt solution) for 2 weeks to help it to be less dry. As a result it's now a lovely tea, a sweetness with some sparks to make it lively. Good thickness. Very serene energy. It's very surprising how much a tea can change within few weeks when you give it enough humidity. I see the same result happening again and again since I care more about humidity and air flow recently"

Lapacho territory

"This Haiwan 2007 has kind of a lapacho taste. Not in the sweet area, quite thin. It's not my taste, but I know some people who prefer that type of tea. I find it interesting to get a sample to better understand the wheel of aroma and what a ripe can taste like. Brewed in silver, porcelain cup 90C+ 5.5g/100ml I've tried it 4 months ago in a porcelain gaiwan and same feeling, this tea was one of the less sweet of all the samples of ripes I've tried."

Silky smooth and rich nutty taste

"Really wonderful pu-erh , silky smooth with noticeable aromas of nuts and wood , Haiwan is becoming my favorite pu-erh tea house"
