Nan Po Zhai is the closest village to Bing Dao village in the county of Mengku.  It lies 2km from Bing Dao village in a roadless area filled with centuries old tea trees.  Nan Po tea is typically sold as Bing Dao as it's quite similiar, but not the same.  We are happy to offer this incredibly powerful and textured tea from the late Autumn of 2017.

Lovely autumn sheng

"This is an elegant, powerful and full bodied tea with an interesting astringency that’s not overpowering. It has strong and balanced flavours, mostly sweet, sour, floral, and vegetal with a bitter finish. The dry leaf aroma is sweet with notes of caramel and hot apple. There are a lot of different scents I get from the wet leaves, including turmeric, nettle, courgette, green pepper, and something resembling a (clean) bog. In an empty cup, the aroma reminds me of orchid, masala chai and honey. The complexity in aromas here is almost unparalleled as far as sheng is concerned. The rinse taste is a mix of floral and vegetal notes that reminds me of green tea a bit. It is full bodied with a nice bitter finish and a fragrant aftertaste. The taste profile gets heavier very soon, with woody sweetness, and flavours of cut grass and apple skins. The finish is tart and has a medicinal bitterness that I like a lot. There is also a very pleasant astringency throughout the session that complements the velvety, soft, and lubricating mouthfeel of the liquor. Furthermore, the astringency persists into the aftertaste, which is protracted and evolving with a strong huigan and a nice cooling effect. In terms of cha qi, I found the tea to be calming, warming, and inducing a very peaceful state."

Endless discovery & endless delicious Echo!

"Bouquet: Strong edamame, French beans / Green bean, Nori (seaweed), slightly grilled eel with rice touch to it. Very green and vegetable like. Liquor: Taste-wise it hits the same fresh juicy vegetable front with a lot of green like the mentioned once before plus different types of green salad like tatsoi, mizuna, lollo rosso, pak choi, mustard leaf, red beet leaf (bulls blood) soybean sprouts and final hints of spinach further followed by a touch of Hokkaido pumpkin, and nutty subtle echos of pumpkin seeds. - with a slightly sea salt taste to it. Plus also some fruity aspects of green grape and pear skin. There is a tingling in the teeth like a mix of salt and sugar. Within its aftertaste there is also another sweet echo composing its deliciously atmosphere of cherry blossom gums. As you can see there is a LOT to be discovered. This is one of those case where your mind can't stop finding more and more in the depth of this fresh and highly enjoyable raw Sheng. Later you might also discover a subtle note of pepper spice. Even after an hour I was still able trace an echo of its aftertaste within my mouth and throat ~ Cheers & may amazing tea be with you!
