We used Autumn 2015 Tea Leaves from the Da Xue Shan (Big Snow Mountain) area in the southwest of Mengku county in Lincang.  The tea trees are old plantation tea trees between 40-60 years old growing naturally.  No pesticides have been used and the tea has been tested in laboratory and passes EU MRL standards.

The taste is thick and sweet with a bitter/astringent after-taste that gives the tea a strong dimensional taste and feeling.  Brew with short infusions at first to gradually coax out the flavors.  Strong Cha Qi!

These Dragon Balls were made by my mother- in-law and father-in-law. They make them in their spare time.  They use little pieces of cotton to compress them instead of saran wrap.  Saran wrap compression is the most common method because it's faster, but it causes off gassing into the tea since the tea must be steamed to soften and is very hot. We use cotton, which is safe.

50% of the profits from the Da Xue Shan Dragon Ball will go directly to my father/mother-in-law.   We will give them the first installment during Chinese New Year as a little red packet since they won't accept money directly from my wife or I.  Most likely they will put most of it in the bank for their retirement!

Each Dragon Ball is roughly 8 grams of tea (+/- 0.5 grams)

This tea has been tested in a certified laboratory and has passed the MRL limits for pesticide residues as established by the EU Food and Safety commission. For more information about MRL testing and the EU Food and Safety commission click on this link.

Sweet goodness

"The description is spot on. I didn't know raw PuErh could be this sweet so this was a very pleasant discovery to me. The aroma reminded me of sugar cane which is also a taste you can get in the first few infusions. Very pleasant astringency and soft bitter aftertaste."

will buy again

"I received this tea as a sample. I like raw pu-erh, but I am very careful with them since they are harsh on my very sensitive stomach... although I can make an exception with this one! It's lovely, with a nice floral aftertaste. So far, I am quite impressed with the samples I received as I loved them all!"

it a ok tasting up- erh

"I got send 2 balls as a sample. They were very hard and is it took a while to get them soft and infusible (o the amount of nob jokes going true my head as I'm writhing this...) nevertheless all jokes aside. This 2 could not tast more different from each other. The first one had a fairly simple pu-erh tast nothing to outspoken but still a fairly pleasant tast. I had some mineral notes and even some moss notes and somewhere in the back I could even detect some very light fruit notes. So overall noting special but also noting unpleasant. But then I tasted the second one. Well lets just say it was way off. It had a very extreme bitterness overwhelming the senses. I suspect that is fairly often whit this mini cakes that I had a bad couple leafs. Being so small just 1 or 2 underwhelming leaves can make a very big differs. So is it a good buy? Well yes, the first one as still a fairly OK up-erh tea and knowing the amount of quality control the Yunnan sourcing team puts in to their teas I'm sure that I just got unlucky on the second one."

Pleasant

"I received this as a sample in my recent order and brewed it up almost immediately. I'm coming off of a cold and my tasting isn't that great, but it was a very enjoyable tea. Some sweetness with no real bitterness, but a nice mild astringency. It may have been even better if I had let it sit for a bit in my storage box, but sometimes you just can't wait"

Decent autumn tea

"Got one dragonball as a free sample with my last order. Thanks for that. 1 dragonball is perfect for a 120~150ml gaiwan. Personaly i like lincang , bang dong and mengku teas a lot. This one is slightly aged autumn tea. Tea soup starts yellow but gets orange in later infusions. Bitterness comes out in later infusions and the mouthfeel is cooling and slighty sweet. The tea looks healthy. Green leaves. For fans of the 2018 impression cake and autumn lincang cakes. I prefer a nan po zhai , na han or mushu cha cake though. Chaqi and coffein is strong in these dragonballs."
