This year we went all out to make a unique ripe blend! We blended 9 different teas from several regions and wet pile batches to create a complex and tasty ripe pu-erh that is worthy of aging! There are many leaf grades including gong ting, and grades 1 through 5 all blended together to create something full-bodied and long lasting.

This is also one of those ripes that will show many sides of itself as the sessions goes on.

Reviews

smooth and sweet

"A lovely blend, with plenty going on in the first few steeps and lots to enjoy in the final few cups as well. It's sweet, with just enough of a creamy sensation to hold up well against the more woodsy and brothy flavors that start to build as you work your way through a session. I really like how that creamy-sweet sensation sits firmly on my palate and becomes part of the aftertaste - it gives this cake a kind of complexity and elegance to it that elevates the experience to another level. The aroma coming off the bottom of an empty cup is really enjoyable too. It's thick on the nose and persistent even as it cools over the course of a couple minutes."

Great Ripe Pu-erh!

"Being an avid tea drinker, I've tried quite a few ripe pu-erh teas and have always found their wood pile aroma too overwhelming. And I must admit that I bought two cakes of the "Year of the Ox" solely because my spouse designed the wrapper. I wrongly assumed that this ripe wouldn't be any different and I couldn't be further from the truth. While this tea retains traces of woodsy aroma, distinctive of all ripe pu-erh, it isn't obnoxious. It complements the other flavors well and each infusion brings out different aspects of the blend. The initial opaque tea soup is slightly bitter but it fades rapidly and leaves room for sugary notes. In all, I'm more than glad to have bought this ripe and will definitely give ripe pu-erh teas another chance in the future. As for the "Year of the Ox", I can't wait to see how it'll age in due time. Thanks to the YS team for this great blend!"

Wonderful Ripe

"These are challenging times, but it has been a great year for YS ripe - got a sample of this recently and it is outstanding, sweet, slightly bitter, complex - bought two cakes just now, 1 for drinking and 1 for storing - this will certainly age well, and its quite the value - thanks to the team at YS for your fantastic work!"
