Two years in the making! First flush of spring 2021 tea was harvested from wild tea trees growing in the Gao Ma village area of Anhua county in Hunan!

Processed in small batches by the traditional method and then smoked with pine smoke on three occasions! Aged in ornate hand-woven baskets for more than a year before being offered for sale.

This is an ultra-smooth Tian Jian with a classic smoked taste. Never overpowering, just silky, smoky goodness!

Each Basket contains 1 kilogram of tea. If you'd like the whole basket please choose the "1 Basket" option. Please note that we will pack as well as we can to protect the integrity of the basket, but we cannot guarantee it will arrive in perfect condition. We cannot provide refunds or discounts due to condition of the basket.

Incredible!

"This tea delivers an absorbing flavour journey, opening with pine and forest warmth before moving into savoury mushroom, sweet grain and gentle resin. The fermentation is exceptionally clean, the texture smooth and warming, and the flavour arc evolves beautifully across the session, becoming sweeter and more integrated with each steep. Complex, traditional and deeply satisfying, especially when brewed in clay. A tea that rewards attention and leaves a lasting impression. If you have guests, it is a conversation starter for sure!"

smoke, pine resin, tart stone fruit

"Brewing: 6g/100ml, 100°C, flash rinse, 10s x 3, +5s. Warmed-up dry leaves smell of smoke, bacon and stone fruit. When wet, wood and tobacco notes appear. The liquor has a strong smoke taste, with pine resin, tart stone fruit and exotic woods. The smokiness fades away after 8 steeps."

Smoky, yes, but I will come back for that mouthfeel!

"I respectfully disagree with another reviewer: I did not find the smokiness strong. What stuck with me was a lingering, almost tingly mouthfeel that I have encountered before with wild sheng puer. Very easy drinking. The chaqi is strong but even. I am now tempted to get a whole basket, but first I need to try every tian jian :-)"

Smoked

"If you like smoked tea, this is the one for you. Reminds me of a lapsang i once tasted in a chinese resturant. The smoked taste is very strong, weary drinkers be aware!"
