Entirely wild arbor tea from early spring 2016! Tea leaves taken from 60 to 100 years old tea trees growing wild near Da Hu Sai in the county of Mengku) Lincang. Full and stout one leaf to one bud ratio tea leaves. Huang Shan (Remote Mountain) tea has been growing wild for decades and is grown by a close friend of ours (Mr. Duan).  Mr. Duan picks and processes all his tea by hand and never uses chemical pesticides or fertilizers.

Huang Shan tea has a typically Mengku strength and thickness.  It's tea soup is golden yellow and viscous, the aroma is sweet with hints of orchid and mushrooms.  The taste is sweet, astringent and bitter with a savory kind of mouth watering feel and strong cooling effect.

An incredible value pu-erh which is both worthy to drink now or for the long-term.  Clean and pure!

A hidden gem that is heavily underrated

"Early on in my pue'rh journey Ive had the pleasure of tasting the 2017 version of this after reading the gleaming reviews about it. It was also one of the first cakes I bought on YS and its still a pleasure to drink. But later when i tried the other years I was flabbergasted to find this absolute gem. This one has something special about it, its a hidden gem. There must have been some kind of severe drought this year, because the flavour is CONCENTRATED. Its much creamiër then the 2017 it has a lot more dried/powdery fruit, apricots, nectarines and a sweet and flowery finish that lasts very long. The Hui gan on this one is something very special, hard to describe you just have to try it. I have wanted to write about this cake for a long time, but was afraid it was going to be sold out. Now I have stocked up enough of it for years to come, so go ahead and buy it. I have tried hundreds of raws from YS and this is the top 1% in this pricerange and at this age. Let me know in your reviews if you agreed with me and I hope you'll have some great tea session with it. Regards, Bram"

Cooling

"This tea has grown on me , I remember first buying this cake and being a little baffled ??? It tasted alot like a green bi lo chun ... but after a few months my pallet for it completely changed .... it is very Cooling feels like tridnet gum cooling almost and has a autumn tea fruitiness , some of the flavors are tangerine pulp , green bell pepper, white flowers , light honey , Stevia leaf , green apple . Mouth feel medium to light dryness and astringency, strong bitterness but in the back of the mouth way behind the ultra smooth coolness in front ... chi on this tea is a very clean and uplifting makes me wanna take big deep comfortable breaths probably a perfect tea to start the day with ... I rate most if not all YS teas 5 stars especially when I have enough of the tea to get to know it properly. This is a easy 91/100 score for where the tea is right now ."

I bought this as a

"I bought this as a sample and have to admit I wish I had bought a whole cake. Its aroma is perfumy with hints of jasmine, and the taste is sweet with vanilla tones and a good balance of astringency and bitterness. Will certainly improve with ageing. Simply wonderful."
