This tea cake is composed of spring 2007 harvested Yi Wu Mountain area tea leaves and aged in Jinghong (Xishuangbanna) for 10 years before being brought to Kunming in 2017.

This is a delicious semi-aged cake that tastes more aged than its years, while being very clean and retaining its original Yi Wu character. The tea brews up an orange-red tea soup that is viscous and sweet at first taste. The tea also has some mineral, dried fruit and spice character as well, and shows many sides during a typical gong fu session.

If you are looking for a bargain single-estate Yi Wu with some age, then look no further!

** Some wrappers may be bug-bitten with little holes in the paper. There may also be some dust between the wrapper and the cake. Rinse tea once or twice briefly before drinking! If you are squeamish please don't order this tea!

Very nice

"Really like this tea."

Such a great introduction to sheng!

"The warmed dry leaves smell sweet, it has this leathery rustic clean barn smell. The 1st steep was very sweet, with an excellent aftertaste. Broke up the cake a bit for the second steep. Smells like vanilla tobacco. Golden liqueur color on the second steep. Such a nice flavor, but with an interesting “menthol-y” effect on the tongue, but not flavor…the flavor is so good, sweet smooth vanilla. 4th+ seems slightly more astringent but not bitter. Little more mineral flavor and less sweet, but still vanilla tobacco. Highly recommend as an intro to sheng!"

This is my first Yi

"This is my first Yi Wu Sheng. The flavor is lighter, sweeter, mellower than some of the aged sheng I've had. At first I wanted more from it but I've come to really appreciate this for what it is. Very happy with this tea at this price."

Good

"Leaves Are good, but crumbles to dust really fast. Spart from this minor issue, the aroma is very good. Taste is stil astringent, but rounded and sweet"

Tastes like a high end single estate Yi Wu

"This stuff tastes like a Chawangshu lite. Very similar flavor and aroma, just a bit muted. No brainer for a daily drinker. High leaf to water ratio and flash brew (5 secs). Soft, sweet with oriental pipe tobacco spice, lightly astringent spice on the finish."

Great value

Yum

"Sweet, good body which holds the bubbles suspended for quite awhile, touch of astringency, love it!"

I did not enjoy this one…

"Although the wet leaves of this tea smell incredible the taste did not appeal to me. Even when taking into account the affordability of this tea I still would not recommend it. I recently ordered various samples of aged raw puerhs from YS of very different price points and I liked all of them better than this tea (almost all were outstanding). It is not bad, but considering the amazing quality you can usually get from YS for me personally this tea is on the lower end. The Lao Man‘e brand „Te Ji“ for example is offered at a similar price and I absolutely loved it. I kinda feel bad for giving a 2 star review because the tea is alright but I think you can get much better teas from YS. I see that people in the comments really like it so it might be that I am not experienced enough to really appreciate or really „get“ it. But the other aged shengs I ordered I did appreciate almost all of them so this is why I only give 2 stars. Im not a fan of giving detailed flavour descriptions because I think this is highly subjective but to me it had a prominent menthol note (which i really like in aged shengs) and it reminded me of tobacco. I like these notes but did not enjoy the overall experience."
