A 2007 Changtai pressing for a Guangzhou tea dealer. Stored in Guangdong from 2007 until 2015 and then Kunming thereafter. Certified Organic raw pu-erh tea harvested in Spring 2007 from Menghai county tea gardens.

This is one of the more powerful Changtai releases from the mid-2000's. The leaves are smaller and it has also had less aggressive storage than many of its purely Guangdong stored counterparts (Tian Xia Tong An and Si Pu Yuan). That being said, this is a well-aged tea that still has plenty of bitterness and crisp terroir aroma to make this worthwhile to hold onto longer (or drink now).

Got a sample and that's a great surprise !!

"Really the profile I like, powerful, astringent, with a slightly smoky touch. A lot of length. Super pleasant with a rather incredible texture on the palate. It’s certainly not a tea for everyone, if you like subtlety because it’s a tea with a lot of personality, a bit like the bu lang I like."

2007 Changtai "Ding Sheng Hao" -- Underwhelming

"For an aged cake it was very bitter. At first I thought I had done something wrong but after reducing the steep temperature it turned out the same."
