This tea cup was created with a combination of molding and hand-work. Special attention was given to the creation of the carved "bas relief" motif which gives this teapot an ancient and esoteric uniqueness. Firing was done with a wood burning kiln, which further adds a dramatic uniqueness to each piece.

The tea cup is made from Nixing (Qin Zhou) clay with some sand admixture to make it porous, and as such it can be seasoned and should be dedicated to one type of tea. (See our video here on seasoning clay teapots).

Rustic but elegant

"This cute cup blends a rustic cup with some elegance with the design. Clay has a nice effect with the tea, and I like to use it when I'm brewing with porcelain or glass but at the same time I want to have the softening effects of clay in each brew. I use mine for raw pu-erh, and also have one of the pots made with this same clay but use it for ripe pu-erhs. Lovely!"
