The finish is rough
"Fantastic size Top shelf crafting Wish I could drink directly out of it, it would need to be like 1% miss-shapen and be smoother."

Lovely in appearance, does not conduct heat well.
"This Gaiwan is beautiful. It has a deep purple color, and a rough surface. It is good for serving tea to a few people at a time. I give four stars out of five because the clay does not conduct heat well. I prefer when the container warms easily and retains heat. Perhaps an advantage is that it is less likely to become too hot for the fingers when pouring, but I consider this resistance to heating to be a slight flaw."

Beautiful big 'ol gaiwan
"Its shape, color, feel, pour are all great. My only complaint is that the one I received has a 200ml capacity not 330ml. With tea it pours out about 170ml. Perhaps they vary in size but 130ml difference wasn't expected. I do hope to still find a full 300+ gaiwan like this but for now this one is beautiful regardless."

Nice gaiesn, might be more
"Nice gaiesn, might be more difficult to handle (one handed) with smaller hands"

What a gaiwan!
"I didn't really know how it would turn out based on the picture, but when I finally held this gaiwan in my hands...wow. The weight, the feel and it's beautiful color made me want to order another 2 so I'd have one for Raw Puerh and Green tea. Heavy and sturdy feel, but not too heavy. Wonderful gritty porous texture, but not too gritty that it doesn`t rinse out well. Deep purple clay color. Lid strains perfectly, and doesn't stick too much to the grit. We shouldn`t be able to get this kind of quality at this price..."

Love it
"This Gaiwan is great. It’s huge! I don’t know enough about YiXing to speak on the quality of the clay, but I didn’t purchase it to take the place of a high quality Yi Xing pot.. I bought it for its unusually large size. It is big enough that you can throw in some leaves and drink straight from the gaiwan, grandpa style. if you want to brew gong fu, you can adjust the amount of water to fit the number of people you are serving. It’s just super versatile. Also, I don’t find it to be very muting, so it is ok to use with pretty much any type of tea. I’m not dedicating it to a specific type. Obviously, I’ll still use my different clay pots to brew their dedicated teas when I’m looking to have a proper session, but this thing fills a gap in my Teaware collection. Due to its unusual size, it is unsurpassed in terms of versatility and convenience. That aside, The ergonomic are excellent and it is beautiful to look at. Very robust too, so if you are the bull in the china shop type, you won’t have to worry too much. Well worth the price"

My purchase of this gaiwan
"My purchase of this gaiwan was for its volume, a nice 330 ml. This makes it much more versatile, and for me, more suitable. The clay quality and workmanship are both excellent, and the seal of the lid to the cup is very impressive. This is my daily use gaiwan, typically with my darkest, morning brews."
