Steeping instructions to get the most out of this tea:

Gong Fu style: Wash for 30 sec, then steep it for 30 sec, then 45 sec, then 1 minute, then 1.5 minutes, 1.5 minutes, 2 minutes. We also recommend using a pure silver teapot if brewing gong fu style, or the SAMA Stainless Steel Flask (MC05 or MC09). If using the SAMA flasks, use 9-11 grams and steep for 1 hour.

Rich and complex

"I've had 10 - 15 sessions with this cake now, and I have never been let down by how deep the earthiness is. The liquor can get darker than what is shown in the images, and the cha qi is very relaxing. I'm supper happy with it"

Authentic Shu Puer🍂

"the taste is quite authentic, I personally even feel a pleasant metallic aftertaste, so the name "alchemist" is perfect) the texture is thick and pleasant, creamy. . . for the best taste and texture, be sure to follow the brewing recommendations in the description of this tea) but do not be afraid to experiment, for example, I found the ideal way to brew this tea for myself and am very pleased🍂🍂❤️‍🔥"

Worth the wait

"This was my first purchase from YS. They have a wide selection and I wanted to buy small quantities though they seem to accel at large orders. The shipping took a bit of time and I admittedly got a bit worried until my order was passed on to ups and I got a notification. But the wait was definitely worth it. I've tried the teas and really enjoyed them. I'm definitely looking forward to ordering from Yunnan Sourcing again though my tea reserves are stocked at the moment."

Warming heart and mind

"Great for the price. Not the best tasting tea for me, earthy woody cacao leather mushrooms flavours. There is some slight astringency that adds a bit dryness, but more so it’s juicy, it doesn’t have much tannins and structure, it’s more in the warm, soft and pleasant side, which I like. The best thing I like about this tea is that it has a positive warming effect on me psychologically (year of the pig red label had the same effect). Good tea to drink when you feel alone or sad, or for heartfelt meditative practices or ceremonies."

Perfect

"Ordered this one and something from the Cozy line to drink as hot as possible on cold fall and winter days."

Sweet and warmming tea

"The wet leaves smelled like malt biscuits with hint of hazelnut and vanilla. The tea was thick and creamy from the first brew to the last one. It tasted like cane sugar, old wood, molasses with some yeast and a slight metallic taste. The aftertaste was extremely sweet with some residual bitterness. The empty gong dao bei smelled just like hot cocoa. I used 6g of tea in a 120ml gaiwan with as close as boiling water as I could. I was abusing the tea and even with that I could squeeze out 15 strong brews (I could probably go for 2-3 more lighter brews, but I was too tired that time)."

Thanks for brewing tip Scott

"I wrote a review a few months back stating that I was underwhelmed by this tea. Scott sent me a message stating I needed to brew this tea longer and use more tea . After brewing this way the tea is so much more enjoyable. Thank you Scott and continued success at YS!! Welldone"
