Pressed from Camellia sinensis var. assamica blossoms harvest from older tea trees in the Da Qing village and Ku Zhu mountain area in Jinggu, Simao (Pu’er). Pressed in 2013 and stored locally in Jinggu since 2013. This is a sweet, soothing cup with a very low caffeine lift, great for unwinding at night or for anyone caffeine-sensitive. Expect a thick, viscous mouthfeel and a long, honeyed finish. Also fantastic as a blending ingredient with white tea, black tea, or pu-erh (ripe or raw).

Why it’s special

  • Tea flowers only: naturally very low caffeine, gentle and calming.

  • Aged since 2013 in Jinggu: blossoms have settled into a deep honey sweetness with clean aromatics.

  • Dense 450 g brick: economical and long-lasting.

  • Versatile: delicious on its own or blended to add body and honeyed sweetness to other teas.

  • Aroma: wild honey, light cocoa husk, dried blossoms.

  • Liquor: clear amber-orange.

  • Flavor: round honey sweetness with hints of dried apricot and soft malt; no bitterness.

  • Mouthfeel: very thick and silky, almost syrupy when pushed.

  • Finish: long, sweet aftertaste with gentle warmth.

Not what I expected

"Unfortunately I'm not getting any of the honey notes from the bio and other reviews, and mostly just vaguely herb-y dusty aroma. There's some astringency. The flowers give off a lot of dust so fine my mesh strainer doesn't catch it. From when I received it in late february 26 the flowers were already much darker than the pictures. I assume it's still the same batch from 2013 and it just doesn't age well."

Unique Dark Floral Tea 🐝

"Dark yellowbox honey, floral, a little goes a long way! 🐝 It's unlike other teas I have tried. Not light like usual flower tisanes, but not as heavy as black teas. Great as a small percentage in a blend to give it a nectar-like depth 😋 The brick is tightly compressed but somewhat brittle, almost like a very dense freeze-dried food, so I use a muslin bag to contain any smaller dust after picking apart with a tea pick. As usual, a unique and delicious offering from YS team 😊💕"

Sepia-tinted nostalgia of a past bloom

"Gentle flavor, interesting tisane that goes down easy and is great when you're trying to wind down for the night. Great addition to the "non-tea" tea portion of my cabinet."

An infusion to try

"If you love tea, you want to try everything. This is a wild infusion to try. Very cool brick, very fruity. You can add it in your herbal infusions to give it a kick."

Unique low caffeine tea

"I’ve been trying a few low caffeine tea/tea alternatives, and this one is my favorite. This tea is… very strange and I can’t really compare it to any other tea/tea alternative I’ve had (albeit I haven’t had another tea flower tea). The description is very accurate to its flavor. I bought a small amount but I’m definitely planning to buy a brick once I finish it. I’d recommend it if you’re trying to cut down on caffeine, if the description is your cup of tea, or if you want a new flavor experience! Notes: I preferred to brew it for a little longer than they recommended for gongfu, until it turned almost red. I also found it worked pretty well when I left it to steep in my glass water bottle/grandpa style."
