This is a Spring 2006 pluck from Mangshi county of Dehong "Ye Sheng" varietal purple tea trees.  Stored in Dehong from 2006 until 2014 and then Kunming until now.

The tea is incredibly potent both in taste and cha qi!  Very strong thick mouthfeel with an alternating sweet and bitter.  The early steeps have a fairly strong smoky character.  It's meaty and briny with a strong heady aroma!  Goes many many steeps before weakening!

Delicious!

"Delicious tea, a lovely sheng that I’d highly recommend"

Will seek more like this one

"This tea is a marathoner. I was still tasting it on my tongue hours later. I’d suggest flash steeping it the first few times. Your cup will still be delicious and potent, but 5-8 seconds will spread out that smoky bite so you can enjoy it longer. Smokiness stays, but will allow other qualities to take center stage after a few super fast steeps. That’s when I allow for more time in the pot."

good stuff

"I'm not the most seasoned puerh drinker, but have to say I loved this one and I'm pretty cautious around sheng. The mouthfeel really stands out to me. It's smooth and slippery, dark too, which all together reminds me of brand new vinyl. It's foresty and there is some kind of hint of carbon, which isn't quite smoke but it quickly fades. I don't have the chinese words for it, but the lingering softness in the back of the throat is nice. It steeps many times and it becomes lighter, obviously, but also retains an impressive sweetness that intensifies in the later steepings. It begins to remind me of quality crisp and sweet chinese green teas, but retaining that central puerh (almost reddish?) thrust. As I said, my knowledge of raw puerh is limited, but I had no trouble enjoying this one. I'll give it four stars but only because I'm not sure I know what a 5 star is for me yet."

An unassuming winner

"I dont know what inspired me to sample this unmarked cake with one review but I'm glad I did. Probably the best sheng I have tried, which is not a lot, but not few either. It's exactly what I look for in a sheng, a deep/rich flavor from its 15 years of age, refreshing but not over-the-top bitterness, and a unique smokey character that does not overpower. I will be picking up a whole cake on my next order."

Rich

"Rich, like smoked meats. Perfectly balanced bittersweetness. I'm really into this for it's meaty flavor."
