Classic Wu Yi mountain black tea varietal "Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong" means literally "from Wu Yi Mountain Small Tea Plant."

Our offering is processed in a traditional style and has notes of dark chocolate taste and aroma with a sweet after-finish.

We recommend brewing with 90c temperature water. Wash once very briefly!

This is not a smoky "Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong" and should not be confused with the smoky type "Lapsang Souchong" which we also offer!

Fantastic floral lapsang

"Really great floral black tea. Similar to the floral Lapsang teas I've gotten from White2Tea, but at a much better price point. Has a fruity aroma and really nice sweetness to it, and carries a little of the classic black tea maltiness but not so much that it overpowers the most subtle floral taste. I can get a lot of steeps out of this before it gets bitter."

Enjoy floral fruity offering

"Brewed 100° for 4min , 90° for 6 min western style. Quality: mid-range but value oriented pricing, this tea doesn't have the dept or evolving flavors higher quality teas do but it doesn't need to at this price point. Aroma: lightly floral with grilled stone fruit sweetness. The floral note is evident but a light touch. The grilled peach or apricot sweetness is present but again a light touch not overpowering. I don't find it smokey (Not surprisingly I believe this is not smoked). I do get a faint suggestion of smoke the difference of grilled food vs true smoked BBQ. Taste: Similar to the scent the floral essence comes through first followed briefly by the fruity sweetness ending in a short slightly woody finish. Not overly astringent. The sweetness is almost completely lost on second steep with the rock tea mineral taste coming forward but delicate Overall: good value enjoyable tea a bit subtle and delicate. I find the taste description very inaccurate for this offering but that's my palate YMMV."

Premium Quality

"Very high quality Zheng Shan. I’m drinking it next to the $300/kg Zheng Shan I purchased from another merchant and can’t tell the difference. It’s full of fruit flavor and a delight. The leaves are high quality and unbroken. Definitely recommend. Another great tea from Yunnan Sourcing!"

Bright and dark

"I ordered six kinds of Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong, and this is my favorite one. It has the deep flavor of the others, but also a bright citrus top that gives it wonderful complexity."

Black Tea Game Changer

"I enjoyed production of this tea around 7 years ago for the first time, and after all these years I am still buying it! / The aroma of this tea reminds me of unripe guava and honey. There are mineral and floral tones accompanied by soft cassia aroma, the latter being more obvious in the cup after swallowing the tea. It will probably remind you of sweet cinnamon rolls. Soft, sweet, elegant and very well crafted."

Very nice tea!

"I have 250g of the 2021 harvest and kept it sealed in the bag until now. Brewed gong fu style in my trusty Nixing clay pot. The tea is super smooth, sweet, fruity and floral with a malty and slightly chocolatey background. The aftertaste of fruit/florals hangs out in the mouth for quite awhile. The aroma of the tea soup and empty cup remind me of a nice slice of freshly baked pie. With a tea this good, I’m puzzled why it was ever buried under thick pine smoke to make Lapsang Souchong. Anyhoo, awesome tea!"
