This is a blend of "ye sheng" purple raw pu-erh tea and ripe pu-erh from several regions!

This could be considered our second pressing of a "ye sheng" raw and a ripe tea.  The first one is 2016 Yunnan Sourcing "Wild Purple Green Mark" Ripe Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake.

What happens when you skillfully blend Wild Purple "Ye Sheng" Raw Pu-erh tea from with wild arbor ripe pu-erh tea from several regions?  You get something delicious, powerful and complex that is the best of both worlds.  It has sweetness of a good ripe pu-erh, it has the umami and savory character of wild purple raw tea and the bitterness of both raw and ripe.  The tea is thick and lubricating in the mouth and there is a slight lingering bitterness that transforms into a pleasant mouth-watering sweetness long after the tea has been enjoyed.  Cha Qi is powerful but not overwhelming.

The aging prospects for this tea are really exciting.  We have many examples of past raw and ripe blends in the world of pu-erh and several have become famous (like the famous "Purple Heaven" bricks and cakes from the 80's and 90's).  I created this tea because it's delicious to drink now and encompasses the things I like about raw and ripe pu-erh.  The blending is harmonious and there is no need to wait to drink this tea, as it's enjoyable right now for those who are not faint of heart!

Very nice suprise

"The tea sample was bought like part of 'Yunnan Sourcing Brand Ripe Pu-erh Tea Sampler for 2019 - Part 3' and it was really nice suprise. Taste is balanced. It is little bit bitter with sweet aftertaste. You can feel it for long time after finishing your cup. Combination of raw-ripe is not my favorite one, but in this case it is very tasty and I like it. Second good news: it is not expensive and it could be smart to get a few cakes for aging. I can recommend this cake."

The perfect middle

"One of my favorite teas in the mornings or at night when I want something mellow and calming but with more kick. Woody and spicy with some tobacco and sweetness. I never knew I needed a raw/ripe blend, it does have bitterness and the power of raw puerh if you're sensitive to that, you could potentially brew at a lower temp to alleviate that."

WOW!

"At first i was upset that this tea was included in the raw pu-erh snobs sampler box, but i was definately mistaken. This is one of the best teas I've ever tried. The blending was done so masterfully that this did not taste like ripe tea at all but more like an aged traditional stored raw pu-erh. Flavours of dried dark chocolate-covered cherries. I would not feel shy putting this tea in my clay pot dedicated to sheng pu-erh. I would like to order more of this to see how it ages definitely recommend it excited to see how it ages."

WOW!

"I was actually upset that this tea was in my October Raw Pu-erh Snobs Sampler Box because i dont particular like Ripe Tea. I was definately mistaken. This was one of the best teas i have ever tried. The blending between ripe and raw was so magnificent that this tea tastes more like an old traditional stored raw tea. I would even brew this in my Clay pot that is dedicated to aged sheng pu-erh. Whoever blended this cake is a definate Master. Truly Grateful i tried this tea. Will be ordering some for the long haul."
