We are excited to offer this premium ripe pu-erh cake made entirely from Spring 2016 Bu Lang mountain material.  First flush material was collected from several Bu Lang villages and fermented for 46 days.  After fermentation was completed, the tea was dried and graded.  We blended the various grades to create a balance recipe comprising of tippy golden buds and heavier grade Te Ji, 1,3, and 5 leaves. The term "Hui Run" refers to the sweet, slippery and soothing feeling that lingers in the mouth and throat even after the tea drinking session has ended.

357 grams per cake (7 cakes per bamboo leaf tong)

Only 150 kilograms in total available!

Tea Wine

"I've been going through my teas to identify one or a combination that I can use to make 17 liters of 10. 5% tea wine. I believe this is the best tea to use as the base for this experiment. I am now testing to see if combinations of teas would complement this base tea. The additional teas I've tested have been different varietals of Purple Voodo, white teas, white pu-erhs, and similar. Sadly, it takes a year for the tea wine to age, so I will not know until next year how it turns out. This is just a great tea no matter how you consume it."

Aged to Perfection

"I bought this cake over two years ago. I stored it in my makeshift storage cooler. It is now 3 years old. I decided to give it a go to see if it has aged enough for my liking. The answer is "L yes". I must say this tea is delicious. Brews nice and dark, viscous with what I suppose is that unique Bu Lang Mountain flavor."

Average Shu

"I've recently worked through most of my samples in the Hui Run sampler and this was my least favorite, as it was the blandest and most middling. There's no discernible flaws, but there are no qualities to get excited about. Flavor profile seems flat, mostly in the dry leaf vein, and then mouthfeel was average."

Very solid ripe

"I've almost finished my cake and have really enjoyed it so far. It's a very comforting tea. The wet leaf aroma is really nice - a little bit of chocolate and cacao, but mostly very earthy. The flavor is quite similar. A little bitterness in the first steep or two if you push it but overall not strong. I personally haven't tasted any wet pile taste at all. This tea benefits from using a bit more leaf. Very forgiving. I don't think you can oversteep this tea."

WOW ! This is a good one !!!

"The fermentation of this one is just perfect as it has produced a complex ripe puerh that is instantly recognisable as having come from Bulang . The aroma and flavour profile has notes of biter dark chocolate , very dark dank wood , camphor , cherry and some faint notes of caramel and malt . The mouth feel has a nice smooth slick oily texture and leaves a nice cooling sensation in the mouth . The qi is pure , clean , bright and uplifting . Good value for money as always ! I heartily recommend it !!! I shall be buying more !"

Strong and aromatic

"Just finished my sample so I feel like it is time to do a final review on it. Dry leaf has quite a bit of gold to it and opens up to fairly burly leaf. The aromatics of this tea are all around great – dark, bitter chocolate with occasional hints of spice. Similar in both dry and wet leaf but once wet I can make out a bit of pile funk. Taste varies depending on how hard I leafed this. There is a very clear sweet spot where the mouthfeel is best and the taste doesn’t punch you in the face. I’ve had some of the 2011 production and age will definitely make this a nonissue though. Anyway, tasting notes are primarily dark chocolate though spice notes come in later alongside some medicinal cherry flavors. There is a fair bit of pile taste in the early infusions but I only do a brief rinse and honestly, it makes the tea a more interesting experience to me. Qi is pretty intense and sheng-like but not overwhelming. Mouthfeel is one of the best parts of this for me. Though some of the first infusions can be almost chalky, once this gets going it has a very slippery oily mouthfeel. Aftertaste is lasting and interesting. This is a great purchase now for aging or if you like intense young shou but many people will probably want to wait a while to drink it. I’m planning on grabbing a bing or two though to drink when I get a taste for something strong. Picture and more reviews at: https://www.instagram.com/p/BcNa2amFzeH/?taken-by=heichaholiday"
