Qin Zhou Ni Xing pottery has a history of over 1300 years. It is one of the "four famous" styles of pottery produced in China, along with Yi Xing, Jian Shui and Rong Chang.

They are crafted from a type of naturally occurring reddish-purple clay that is both clean and environmentally friendly. It contains natural amounts of iron, zinc, calcium, strontium and numerous other minerals that are good for the human body.

There are absolutely no glazes or paints used in the firing of the clay, rather variations of the color and appearance are a result of firing at different temperatures and the polishing the final product. Most pots take on a beautiful reddish copper tone.

Like Yi Xing and Jian Shui pots, these teapots absorb the taste of the tea that is frequently brewed in them, and so we recommend that the teapot be seasoned and a single class of tea be dedicated to it.

This is a great teapot

"This is a great teapot and is sure to satisfy your needs, aesthetically simple and pleasing. The lid is a perfect fit as well- overall a great buy!"

This pot is exquisitely made.

"This pot is exquisitely made. Everything about the craft--the fit of the lid, the spout attachment, the balance when I'm holding the handle-- all are rather perfect, and amazing. The surface is so finely rubbed smooth that I'd swear it was glazed. Yet it's said not to be. (Inside, the change of color does look like glaze.) The shape is misleading in the photos because the pot has a sharp angle about 5/8 down from the top and bends inward. It seemed usual to me and I wondered how the tea would brew in it. It seems to be all right. I can't yet report on the taste of the tea in this kind of clay. But the pot is beautiful and I want to get another Qin Zhou clay pot--as soon as there's another sale."

Q&A

Hello Yunnan, I have 2 questions. 1st is: are all of your tea pots free of lead, arsenic, and cadmium? 2nd: what would be the best teapot for ginseng? Thank you!
We don't test for heavy metals. I have no idea what teapot is good for ginseng. I have never heard of anyone brewing ginseng in a teapot. If you do that's fine, but you should dedicate that pot for only ginseng, since it has such a strong flavor and the teapot will absorb the flavors of the ginseng.
