Laoshan village is near Qingdao in the province of Shandong at an altitude of just 300 meters. Laoshan village is also near a sacred mountain, and not far from the ocean. Tea has been grown in the Laoshan area for many generations. We are offering this "Imperial Grade" Laoshan Green tea made from the tippiest first flush of spring tea leaves.

Our Laoshan teas are grown by the Liang family, who have a small family operation growing Laoshan tea and doing all the processing of the tea themselves as well. You will notice that the tea is grown under the cover of greenhouses which are fully covered in the winter to protect from frost and also in the earliest part of spring as well just as the leaves are starting to sprout. In the middle and later part of the first flush growth stage the coverings are removed and the tea bushes grow in full view of the sun until plucking in the first week of April.

The varietal grown is Long Jing #43 and as such the tea from Laoshan shares its character. This tea in particular is processed in the exact same way as Zhejiang West Lake Dragon Well green tea using a pressing flat wok frying that results in a flat fried leaf that gives a nutty sweet taste.

We feel confident you will enjoy family-sourced Laoshan teas and invite you to try them all!

The tea is perfect but....

"The tea is perfect as usually. But maybe it is my last purchasing in the Yunnan Sourcing Tea Shop. The Shop stopped shipping to Israel so I found another source of good tea. When the Shop will return to normality please inform me."

🎶 my heart belong in Shandong🎵

"I’ve been drinking Shandongs classic green tea for many years and it is wonderful. I finally jumped ship to try the long jing thinking it would be an upgrade. Although it is very very good green tea it does not surpass the original classic. The black tea is equally great"

Favid Z. (4/5)

Delicious and interesting tea

"Reminiscent of a warm spring day. The flavor is distinctly its own, it has a rather pleasant and smooth vegetal character. The predominant flavours are vegetal, fresh cut grass, barley, fennel, umami notes, nutty, has a light toasted corn aroma."

Love this tea

"Just tried this as part of the Spring Tribute sampler set (a great set which I have thoroughly enjoyed tasting my way through). I thought before that the Imperial Laoshan Green was my favorite, then I thought maybe the Pine Needles green replaced that, but now that I've tried the Long Jing #43, it's the clear winner. Don't get me wrong, they're all good. It all depends on what tasting notes you prefer, obviously. There's something about this one that I just love more than the others. It's less creamy, more astringent, but not overly so. It still has that fresh, grassy flavor I love in my green teas, but this one just seems... cleaner, somehow. Or more well-rounded. I'm not really sure what it is. This is the one I want to drink daily."

Good Value Long Jing

"It may not have quite the magic of the Dragon Well Long Jing, but at a fraction of the price, this can be a nice daily drinker. Smooth with a nice umami and heartiness to it. Pleasantly round taste."
