Teng Tiao village (Rattan village) is located in Jing Gu county of Simao.  The leaves used for our production come from the oldest stand of trees in the area (150-300 years old).  The tea was picked in first week of October during the dry cool sunny weather that follows the end of the monsoon season in southern Yunnan.

This is a unique tea because the cha qi is clean and strong but not overpowering.  There is a nice grass and floral aroma in the first sips and very noticeable cooling sensation in the mouth and throat followed by a slight mouth-watering feeling from the tongue.  The successive infusions become stronger and then even out.  The leaves and stems are very burly and attest to their old tree origins.

400 grams per cake (7 cakes per bamboo leaf tong)

50kg in total produced

"I was specifically looking for a tea from October 2017 to give to my daughter as a special gift in the future. October 2017 is when she was born, so I thought it would be special to get a tea from the same time. After trying many, this one stuck out to me the most. It's very floral and has a soft buttery sweetness however the mouthfeel is what really got me. I can only describe it as silk, very smooth and coating yet also leaves a tinge of astringency at the very end. It is a gorgeous tea, just like my daughter!"

Very giving, potent and quite strong fellow!

"Bouquet: Everything starts lightly sour astringent and highly mouthwatering. A thick and dense vegetable soup atmosphere spicy with a lot of green and veggies inside like broccoli, spinach, kohlrabi, sweet potatoes, sweet corn, hints of carrots, spiced with slightly notes of pepper and a subtle mix of Worcestershire & Barbecue sauce. Those empty cups scent like baked apples. After the third infusion aromas of backed potatoes also show their unfolding. Liquor: A complex and slightly oily texture plays its first melody followed by notes of potato chips flair but also quite fruity in the back like jackfruit, mango and hints of nuttiness like pumpkinseeds and sunflower seeds. The aftertaste also got a certain echo to it which is a mix between dark rich honey and windfalls already a bit fermenting. It can get a bit bitter if you wait to long and steep it a bit to long. Within its second infusion it shares its space on one side with a major note of bread rolls baked with cheese and bacon on it and on the other half with a very distinct and clear tone of dark honey and very ripe baked fruits like apple, pears and hints of peaches. Very giving, potent and quite strong fellow. This Autumn buddy got more kicks of aged aspects already to it as all the other Autumns I tried ~ Cheers everybody & may amazing tea be with you!
