This is a wonderfully complex Liu Bao from Wuzhou area of Guangxi.  It was harvested and processed in 2014 from old bushes, and then packed into baskets in 2017.

This Liu Bao is very cleanly stored with little to no mustiness.  The taste is thick, sweet with earth and wood flavors and a long lasting hui gan.  The leaves that come in the basket are not a specific leaf grade but rather reflects the 2 leaf to 1 bud picking style used to harvest the tea.  After wet piling the tea was stored for 3 years before being packed into baskets and boxed.

900 grams per basket

** If you order the whole basket in the gift box we will pack well to protect the box and basket but cannot guarantee the outer packaging won't be damaged during transit.  No returns or discounts due to damage to the gift box or basket!

Lovely Liu Bao

"I found Yunnan sourcing while researching about Liu Bao and decided to order a few varieties to see what this kind of tea was about. This one definitely has what i was looking for. I find the "wet pile of leaves in the fall" flavor in this to be really crisp and refreshing, which is well balanced by a woody sweetness. It's also easy to brew and you can kind of do whatever you want with it. Obviously gong fu brewing is really good for this tea but I've also been enjoying putting the leaves loose into a pint glass with a few slices of ginger and waiting for the leaves to fall. Its a really fun way to enjoy this tea in the evening with dinner :) Definitely going to but more."

quite good

"Definitely one of the better liu bao's among those i've tried. The early infusions are very nice, and the longevity is also good for a liu bao. However, in the end, after a whole bunch of infusions, a bit of musty undertone appears, which seems to be quite common to liu bao. I'm suspecting that this may eventually go away after some years of aging under the right storage conditions."

Very good quality

"This tea keeps suprising me. There is some tea material in there that looks pretty dark and traditional style. Yet there is a good percentage that is more bright and brown , looking like some very light fermented shou puerh. The tea is typical liu bao but feels a bit like a aged sheng. Im sure this one will age very well and taste awesome in a few years. I found some pretty big tea leaves in there but there are plenty of stems and chopped up smaller parts. Scotts describes the tea very well."

Good quality, long lasting

"This is a obviously good, high quality Liu Bao. It stays dark and flavorful after many infusions and is very pleasant. It just happens not to have much of the very specific flavor I look for in a Liu Bao like the 2014 Three Cranes 0307 Mini Cake. And it doesn’t surprise me with something new and wonderful that charms me into a new favorite. Certainly, don’t hesitate to try this. I’m glad I did, but with so many teas on this site that just blow me away, I don’t expect to buy this again."

"A tea with lovely earthy flavour and just a hint smell of mustiness. Medium tu full body. Highly recommended."
