This is a 2020 pressing from 2013 Spring harvested leaves were picked and processed into mao cha (loose leaf raw pu-erh tea) and then aged for 7 years in Jinggu county of Simao before being pressed in March 2020.  The storage condition in Jinggu was clean with a moderate amount of humidity (wetter than Kunming, but not as wet as Guangdong)  giving the tea a nice rounded aged taste!

"Huang Shan Gu Shu" (lit. Remote Mountain Old Tree) is a mountain in Jinggu County of Simao where 100-300 year old tea trees are growing.  Huang Shan tea trees are Assamica varietal growing wild without intervention.  Tea is harvested only twice a year, not 4 times a year like in many places.  This gives the tea more strength, body, aroma and cha qi!

Very impressive semi-aged sheng!

100 kilograms in total (280 cakes)

Well rounded tea worth the money

"Great tea! Would highly recommend. I usually brew 7 grams in a cheaper 125ml Yixing tea pot. Dry leaf in the warm tea pot gives off a toasty marshmallow/ caramel smell. After initial wash, steeping for 2-5 seconds very pleasing and clean taste. Over all very well rounded tea worth checking out."

Very nice

"Sample received appears more as a loose mao cha - regardless, it's a great tea. Dry leaf has a wonderful, sweet honeyed dried hay aroma. Brewed, the taste reveals its old tree origins and some well managed aging - strong, deep, multi-layered flavors evolve steep after steep. There's some subtle power with this one. Highly recommend."

Delicious and versatile!

"I got a sample to try and a cake for future aging. I’m tempted to break into it because it quickly became a grandpa style daily favorite. Smooth, strong complex flavor, just outright pleasant."

Ahhh the goodness

"I just received my samples today and couldn’t let it rest in my pumidor before trying it. I would say Scott’s description is pretty spot on. Very sweet, some astringency comes in later steeps, and is medium bodied. I felt warmth rushing through my arms and by my 9th step I felt a sudden sharpness overall. Highly recommend giving this a taste, and if you like it get a cake haha"

Easy

"This tea has quickly become a favorite of mine. I believe the 7 years of aging as mao cha has smoothed out any harsher notes. This lends itself to becoming an easy daily drinker. Very sweet with a mild bitterness that seems to come and go as it pleases throughout the infusions. Love it!"

Great fresh puerh.

"Great fresh puerh."

Worth a try

"A nice sheng, tastes fairly young despite the pre-aging. Fairly thick body. Has touches of woody/foresty notes. Don't hesitate to pick up a sample!"
