This is a medium elevation Dan Cong grown at about 850 meters altitude near Zhong Ping Village in the Wu Dong mountains northwest of Feng Huang town. Picked and processed in Late-March from 25-30 year old tea bushes, and then carefully processed to perfection.

The tea was processed like a traditional Dan Cong, but with minimal oxidation to preserve the tea's creamy, floral jasmine-like aroma. Although this tea bears the name "Jasmine Aroma" (茉莉香) there was no use jasmine flowers or oils of any kind to achieve the effect. In reality, it's not similar to a true jasmine tea, nor does it attempt to be. It just has the faintest, most subtle similarity. Most of the tea is green, viscous, sweet, bitter, floral and slightly astringent. Good creamy body, pungent taste and aroma, and of course a pleasant calming cha qi.

"I just love this variety of Dan Cong. I’m admittedly biased and it is deeply personal to each of us but this Zong Ping has such a distinct profile it stands out for me. From the initial sharpness and bright taste to the intoxicating aroma followed by the subtle and satisfying after taste. Zong Ping leaves an array of sensations on different parts of the mouth which I love ( it’s personal 😉 ) but I recommend this tea even to the hardened tea aficionado. Love it!"

Great tea - Just not for me

"This is the first Dan Cong that I've ever had. I've only had one session with this tea, but I just don't think this particular one is for me. It tasted a little like a strong floral jasmine perfume , which was a little off-putting in the first session. I may still warm up to it, but my first impression is that this tea isn't for me."

Decent Dan Cong

"Does well with faster steeping times or will get quite astringent. 5-7 good steepings until the flavor and aroma leaves. Not my favorite by far but is a nice change from other oolongs. Still worth the purchase. I'd give it a 3.5 star if I could but gets a 4 not because it's a bad by any means but I think its a fair review due to the comparison of the other oolongs available here. Definitely notable jasmine aroma but is gone after 3 or so steepings. If you like jasmine teas then this my be your cup of tea!"

"I had to revisit the Jasmine Dan Cong and do the proper review after some testing around with steep time and grams used, I honestly admit it was a mistake to write "simple" in my first review If you take proper adjustments this Dan Cong will give you many infusions with hints of Ya Shi/Almonds/butter and flowery aftertaste"
