One of the first Jiu Wan productions in more than 7 years!  A lovely ripe tea made from Lincang wild arbor Autumn 2014 harvested tea!  Their old fermentation master Dong Guo Hong came out of retirement to oversee this incredibly special "wo dui" fermentation process.

The result is a powerful ripe tea that reminds us that ripe pu-erh can be made from high quality tea leaves.  Tea leaves that could have just as easily been processed into a very drinkable raw pu-erh cake!

Thick and pungent taste, thick tea soup, and strong camphor aroma this tea will go ten rounds easily without getting boring.  Further aging will surely make this a sought after ripe pu-erh!

357 grams per cake

2014 Autumn material, 2015 Spring wet piling, 2015 pressing date.

Solid well made tea with complexity

"This is a really nice tea. It starts with that herbal medicinal puer flavor that people neither like or don't, but it clean and the texture has some nice weight to it. . . after a couple steeps, a new character comes through which is hard to describe but quite lovely. I love the experience of having this tea and the way it unfolds. Lastly, it has a really nice energy that's not too buzzy, yet still awakening. . ."

For the lovers of old school ripe!

"This tea really reminds me of an early 200 Menghai and Xinghai tea factory porductions. The fermentation is stong, with a prolonging sweetness and good camphor aromatics. This is undoubtably one of the best Lincang ripes i've experienced. Frankly, the base material might be a little too young and thus this tea is not to be pushed. After finishing half a cake i understand that this tea produces good 3-5 infusions. Which is perfect if you want a good ripe to start your day. If you are buying factory ripe for casual session and you like sweet ripe - get a cake. It is a steal"

a big surprise

"bought this about six months ago and let it sit - what a pleasant surprise, this is a sophisticated, subtle shou - strongly recommended, would quickly make it to the very top of your favorite ripes I am sure, and what value as well"

Incredible bargain

"I bought a whole cake following Scott's suggestion and I couldn't be more satisfied. This is an excellent ripe that brews dark and is full of flavour. I really recommend it if you're into bolder, not overly sweet ripes. This has some fruity notes, but is more into the camphor/spices territory, and can get a bit bitter if you push it. It later turns earthier and gentler, but remains interesting and lasts for long. I'd be buying a whole tong if my storage space wasn't so limited! I think this tea will be mind blowing a few years from now."

Initial Purchase

"First time customer. (I had been buying elsewhere for a decade.) Arriving here, I was overwhelmed by the dizzying choices. Scott offered to assist, asking what I usually drank, then offered suggestions. Jiu Wan "Impression" was #1 on my list. This is a robust tea, with darker overtones, that suits me nicely. I am not one to notice subtle differences, but Jiu Wan Impression holds flavor through several brewings. I intend to order several more cakes and put them away for as long as I can. This was a good choice for me."

Without the option available to

"Without the option available to sample, I went for it and blindly bought a cake of this tea a few months ago. From the very first sip, I’ve been so glad I did. Really wonderful blend of what looks to be mostly larger grade material. Very affordable price for such great quality. Brews up a dark, thick soup that is engaging all the way through the session. Very clean, uplifting energy. One of my favorite younger shou teas I’ve tried. I eventually bought a tong and look forward to drinking much more of this tea. If you’re considering trying this tea or on the fence about going in on a whole cake without the sample, I’d highly recommend it."
