This is made entirely from Spring 2005 wild-harvested "Ye Sheng" varietal (Dehongensis) tea harvested in the mountains west of Mangshi area of Dehong prefecture (Yunnan province).

The compression is tight and the tea has been entirely Kunming. The tea soup is orange-red in color as one would expect of a tea with this amount of aging. The taste is so mellow and sweet, completely lacking the very bitter character that the younger ones have. There is a mushroom broth sweetness with some vanilla notes. Very clean taste and ultra smooth.

Highly infusible tea, that will go 10+ steeps!

Here we drink the 2003 version (now sold out) of this brick:

Nice

"Powerful minerality from the first steep. After that comes an earthy bitterness that gradually fades in."

Not purple enough for me

"I've been trying to learn to like shengs, but most are still too aggressively bitter and/or astringent for me. I recently discovered that some ye sheng / dehongensis varietals are accessible for me, so I got the purple sheng sampler that included this one. This mostly greeted me with a light, woody grassiness but then became quite dry and bitter. Not enough of that purple fruitiness to keep me trying."

Excellent!

"Smooth and steeps 10+ times for me. It can get bitter, but if you keep the steeps short it's just perfect. I was a fan of the 2003 Dehong brick, and this one is a worthy replacment!"

Great Value! planning to buy a brick

"I got a couple YS aged sheng in a recent order, (2007 cnnp early spring, and the 2002 yiwu) and this came out head and shoulders over the other two. Heads up that it's super tight, I found 30s steeps and decreasing down to 10s as it opened up to work well but I have a feeling that each session with this will be a bit different. I got a corner piece in my sample, and given that even on loose cakes you can get some big variance between the outside of the cake and the inside I'm fairly certain that the inside will be somewhat green, but I think it's gonna be worth a try People talk sh!t bout dehongensis but this really opened my eyes that it can be good"

Q&A

Hi, I just purchased two 2005 Dehong "Wild Tree" Raw Pu-erh Tea Bricks. The bricks didn’t have the Nèi fēi. Is there a reason why the Nèi fēi ticket Is not attached to the bricks.
No reason that I know of. It seems that producer didn't want to press a nei fei into it. It's not uncommon for bricks and tuos to not have nei feis.
