Growing in Li Zi Ping Village near Phoenix Town "Xiong Di Zai" (brothers) tea varietal plants aged 80-150 years are growing naturally at an altitude of 1250 meters.  This particular varietal is from a pair of trees that grew side by side in the village hundreds of years ago.  The pair of trees produced for well over a hundred years, but then one died.  The remaining tree was then propagated in the village where it's still cultivated and picked today.

The taste is strong, thick and sweet with notes of orchid.  The tea soup is a deep golden yellow hue and there is a a very strong milk aroma (nai xiang) in the after-taste.

Great tea worth the price!

"Smell: very flowery Tasting notes: typical floral, but unexpectedly creamy aftertaste. After multiple brews, intense floral notes disappear and flowery honey is revealed, still keeping a subtle creamy after-taste, very mouth pulling (astringent). 1st brew: fruity-floral. Good but not overly exciting. 5g/100ml, 99C, 15s->5s->5s"

Meditation elixir

"Had a really pleasant experience with it, something in the effect focuses the attention in a very reliable way. My sight got glued to the cup and it was much easier than usual to slow down the thoughts stream. The taste is surprisingly mild yet very full and I got many HQ steeps from it."

a chameleon of flavors

"The firing on this Xiong Di Zai is entirely without flaw, it is utterly perfect and represents what a good firing technique can, and should, do to dan cong. The aroma of the dry leaf is reminiscent of chocolate-covered goji berries, but the flavor profile in the cup is like a bouquet of flowers drenched in honey with a milky, creamy finish that imparts a long-lasting sweetness. The charcoal note is barely detectable, and only comes out to accentuate all of the other flavors rather than obscure them and reduce their clarity. It weaves in and out perfectly, providing a kind of crispness without turning into a bite, and a kind of accent without being too loud. It lacks a kind of in-your-face quality that other dan cong at this price point could bring to the table, but I find it makes up for that with its creep-up-on-you pungency that just hits all at once like a strong edible that you weren’t feeling 5 minutes earlier. I really enjoy the torque this thing has, once I'm in the groove with a few steeps in my belly, I feel it pick up and take off like the turbo just kicked in, and it goes for a long time too. I can easily get 12+ steeps of magic juice from this, and even after the session is over, these leaves still exude floral aromatics and a creamy-sweet note. Price to quality ratio is good, this is an excellent representation of what $1/g can buy in the world of premium dan cong."

Rare Find

A lovely, well-balanced Dan Cong

"This is an excellent oolong. It hits all of my favourite flavour notes and invites you to take a sip with a lush aroma. None of the flavours are overpowering. I can taste wildflower honey and nutty milk for sure. The floral aspect to it isn't quite as in-your-face compared with, for example, the King of Duck Shit Aroma which probably would make this a great daily oolong. The mouth feel and after taste is great, makes me salivate before finishing with a light astringency. 10/10 you can't go wrong!"

An easy favourite!

"Dan cong oolongs have become my tea of preference and this is easily one of the best! Aromatic and flavoursome, pretty and clear golden colour. It is like honey orchid with a whiff of da hong pao both on the dry leaves and in the mouth. It does stand out!"

Excellent Dan Cong Oolong !

"Nice tea varietal, high perfumed with orchid, white peach, milk and a bit of vanilla, medium body with fine tannins supported with a light fine bitterness, very good aftertaste."
