Ultra smooth ripe tea created from a wet pile batch composed of teas from Jingmai, Menghai, and Lincang (Mengku). The teas were harvested and processed into mao cha in their own areas and then sent to Menghai town where they were blended together and then wet piled for 42 days in October and November of 2018. We also refer to this tea as "San He Zhai" 三和寨 as it's a harmonious blend of tea from three distinct regions.

Unlike many large tea factory productions which are an intentional blend of varied leaf grades this is entirely composed of the wet-piled mao cha which was never run through a leaf grading machine.

This is a thick, sweet and creamy ripe tea, with a dark dense tea soup. The blend of various regions combined with a medium-light degree of wet piling gives this tea a subtle appeal due to its unusual complexity and warm cha qi.

One of my favourite ripe Pu’er Teas

"By far one of the best ripe Pu’er teas I’ve tasted. A very smooth creamy texture and taste with a pleasant aftertaste. Yunnan Sourcing branded teas are very good indeed!"

Best tea and best value

"Sampling a lot of YS ripe pu-erh teas from 2018-2022 recently, I found myself enjoying this one as much as any. The 'San He Zhai' blend of Menghai, Mengku, and Jingmai teas works so well, just as Scott demonstrates in the video. The flavor is balanced but interesting, and keeps me coming back day after day. That sample is now long gone and I'm chipping away at the first of four cakes that I ordered. In most cases one might be enough, but when the price and quality are this good you want to prolong the enjoyment..."

a thoughtful blend

"Clearly a thoughtful blend of material, and easily one of the most complex and dynamic experiences you could seek in a daily drinker that doesn't break the bank. It's very smooth, with a fantastic mouthfeel and lingering sweetness that is persistent across the session. My favorite part of this tea is how it changes about half-way through. I think the lighter oxidation coupled with the un-graded blend of leaves (and some stems) makes for such a unique pivot that adds a level of complexity you typically don't find in this price range. There's a lot going on in the last 3-ish cups, so make sure you pay attention and explore all the layers. Compression on the cake is excellent; the center is just a bit too tight for my liking, but it's still easy to break down without turning the leaves to dust. Check the leaves out after your session! The lighter oxidation becomes more apparent once you wash the leaves a bunch."

Sweet and Nuanced Ripe

"Very good value, definitely on the fruity/sweet side of ripes for me. Does a little better if you don't brew it to the max as this brings out the uniqueness of the tea. I tried all the 2019 YS ripes from a sampler and this was my favourite, and great value at that."

I really enjoy the Year

"I really enjoy the Year of the Pig Blue Label. It is smooth and delicious."

Good unique ripe

"This is a ripe I recommend; there is still some wo dui at the time of this review but beneath that you can tell this will be a unique shou. “Rich” is the word I would use to describe this puerh’s profile"

Dirk H. (5/5)

Incredibly smooth and forigiving

"This Puerh is so incredibly smooth and tasty, I highly recommend it! It lacks the bitterness and punch of other puerhs but it is worth it for the smoothness. If you want something with a lot of punch and energy, this is not the tea for you. This is a very smooth and comforting tea with very pleasant cocoa and vanilla notes. I have been searching for a tea like this for a while and never expected it to be this cheap! Its amazing."

Spencer S. (5/5)

Cocoa comfort!

"Smooth and creamy cocoa goodness. Very enjoyable and will only improve over time!"

Jessie D. (5/5)

Smooth and Chocolatey

"This tea would make a good entry level ripe pu erh it's so smooth and chocolate-y, but if you're looking for a lot of complex flavors you might want to look at something like Immortal Monkey."

Good balanced pu-erh, but a bit too soft for me

"I liked the balance and smoothness of the tea, but it seemed too mellow for me. It brews thick and dark, allows for many infusions, but even at its darkest and thickest, it's still ridiculously smooth. Everything is balanced with this tea. If you like your music to be flat across the spectrum, that's what this tea makes me think of. No highs or lows. This is a good daily sipper. I do find in order to get intensity, I need to brew a good amount of it, but I can keep re-infusing western-style cup amounts many, many times. I'm finding myself going through the cake a little fast, so for that reason I'm rating it the way I did."
